I shouldn't have lied.
"It's true." I said, swallowing my trepidation. "What she says is the truth." That was all I could say to soothe his denial.
Zoro looked at me, sweat dripping down his defined forehead. "W-Why didn't you tell us?" His brows were furrowed, hands shaking while he gripped his swords.
"Why do you think, Zoro?" I took a hesitant breath. "He's an infamous warlord, and not to mention he's hated by millions." I grit my teeth.
Yoon giggled hysterically, contradicting her elegant appearance. "What a magnificent reaction! I was under the impression you had forgotten about him, considering that it's been over 10 years since you've last spoken to him!"
"How could I forget about him," I spat. "That man spent his whole life trying to make my existence miserable!" My eyes started to glow ruby as rage consumed my visage. "'Forget'." I spat in disbelief.
Zoro started to accept the information and relaxed further, shoulders melting away the tension. "Who cares who her father is?" Those unexpected words made me snap my head towards Zoro. "She is who she is now. He has nothing to do with her anymore!"
I pressed my tongue to the roof of my mouth, swallowing the lump at the back of my throat. I blamed my tears on the breeze.
"He's right."
My eyes whipped to the left, gaze locking with a familiar pair of golden irises. A ping of excitement reverberated throughout my veins as I watched Law, Bepo, and Robin emerge from the shadows of an ally.
"Captain!" I couldn't suppress my cheer and a small smile strung at the corner of my lips. Law's stare was hard and angry as he strode up beside me, Bepo and Robing following. I let out a breath of relief as the hand clutching my heart released its grip.
Yoon seemed distraught at the sight of the three pirates. She thought I would be alone. But even while we all stood here together, shoulder to shoulder with power. I couldn't slip the feeling that this wasn't going to end well.
"Otoko, shoot now." I didn't have any time to react as the order left her lips. In less than a second I was sent flying.
"F/N!!!" My name rang in my ears as I clutched my stomach in pain. Blood spurting from of my mouth as an iron fist crushed my organs. Shit!
I flew back into a building, smashing through the bricks and falling to the ground as debris toppled over me. Black dots clouded my vision when my head collided with the wall.
"What the hell?" I groaned, leaning forward and kicking the shattered stone off of my body. My abdomen throbbed as I looked for the culprit of the attack. With effort, I pushed off the ground and stood up, but before I could reciprocate I was hit again. This time it was from behind.
All the air left my lungs as I lurched forward, that same iron-like fist smashing into the curve of my spine. I bit my tongue, feeling the crunch of the muscle between my teeth. I was only left a handful of seconds before another punch collided with my jaw. I managed to stay on my feet this time, but that was all I could focus on. My weight was being pushed down into my feet, trying to keep me upright.
I heard my name again, but I had no time to respond as the punches kept coming. Blood slid down my chin, smacking the floor with a horrible splatter.
Finally, an opening arranged itself. I took advantage and activated my devil fruit power, wings and claws erecting from my bones. In an instant I was in the sky, the power of my launch sending the building's broken stones flying.
