I wiped the blood from my mouth, spitting out the copper liquid. Curses slipped out one after the other as I felt an agonising burn in the center of my core. My ribs were broken.
This time I responded when my name was called. I looked down at Law and the others, watching as Zoro launched for Yoon while Robin held her feet to the ground.
"Are you okay?!" Law's voice sounded broken, the rasp peaking at the volume of his enraged shout. I nodded, hoping that he would be able to see it.
The whole time I was being punched I hadn't seen a single physical limb. I could asses the enemy had probably eaten a devil fruit, and a powerful one at that.
I dove down beside Law, my heels snapping grossly at the ground. "What was that?" I asked him as I walked closer.
"I need to get you out of here." He didn't answer my question. In fact, I didn't think he even heard it. His irises swirled with an emotion I'd never seen on him before. My fingers twitched in discomfort.
"What do you mean? I'm not going anywhere," I said. "This is my fight. I won't be walking away from it." My voice sounded stern, but not because I was being strict, but because every inhalation I took caved in the dismembered bones inside my chest. I tried to steady my diaphragm by taking short and quick breaths to slow the damage.
He finally looked at me, lips anchored into a frown. "If you wont run away, then I have no choice but to fight with you." A kaleidoscope of butterflies swarmed in my heart. He didn't deny me, he knew I wanted to fight for myself. And he was willing to do it with me.
"Y-You don't have any obligation to help me... So why?" My voice sounded soft and confused, it could almost pass off as a mere exhale. But Law heard it.
"Because I care about your life, if anything were to happen to you I wouldn't be able to forgive myself," Law answered, the morbid tone in his voice cascading over any shred of emotion. I didn't respond to him, letting my stare linger a beat longer than it should have.
I could see Zoro in my peripheral, his swords being dodged by the wench. Law and I had a mutual understanding of our situation. I left Zoro to deal with Yoon while I searched for the culprit of my broken bones. And Law activated his Room to also try and sense the intangible enemy.
Like an answer to my prayers, I heard a new voice. "Shashasha!" I turned to the weird laugh. "Did you see that? Oh how silly of me, of course you didn't! It was like I was invisible! Shasha!" A buff man with buzzed, blonde hair stood across the square. His forearms were amputated, but his fists were still there, hovering with an unknown force like they were still attached to his body.
"Bingo," I said under my breath.
He was about to launch towards me, but I beat him to it, kicking off the ground with so much force that it cracked the pavement. This asshole pulled a dirty trick and attacked me when I didn't know he was coming, and now I'm going to give him a taste of his own medicine.
I bent my leg back and slammed my knee right into his chest, sending him flying back. Before he could reciprocate I sent another kick, shoving the heel of my foot into his neck. I repeated my attacks over and over until I sent a final blow to his face. He was knocked into one of the buildings, causing it to come crashing down.
I waited a few seconds, making sure he was defeated before I relaxed. "Captain, can you sense anyone else nearby?" I asked Law, turning to him after one last glance as the unconscious body.
"No, not a single person." He scowled in frustration. "There's no way she came here with just one guard."
I stood next to him, closing my eyes and stiffening my body. Vibrations. The movement of our enemies could only be detected through their vibrations traveling through the ground. Just like before in the warehouse, we couldn't sense a single person, and then men suddenly showed up. It must be been the same person using that ability to conceal them now.
"Do you remember the warehouse? This is the same situation, someone must have the ability to make people invisible. Or at the least, conceal their presence." I informed Law.
He nodded in understanding, letting his Room diminish back into the palm of his hand. "Then what do we do?" I weighed the question for a second. My eyes glided over to Zoro as he and Robin worked in unison to fight Yoon. I'd have to trust them to deal with her.
"We isolate ourselves." I said.
"What?"
"We have to go somewhere with no buildings, no nothing. Just us. I think then we might be able to sense who or where they are." It was a reckless plan. "And knowing that they're after me, they will follow wherever I go."
"The harbour. There is a large patch of land leading up to it. Will that work?" Law told me, scratching the goatee on his chin.
I smirked, peridot eyes gleaming with mischief against the full moon. "Perfect."
