Heart Strings from the Medium (karkat x reader)

i got a day off since everyone went on a trip

You spent the night listening to music and making up homework that was due last week. This whole time, you wondered, who was in the alley? who were they talking about? why was one of them so familiar?

Your thouths were interupted by the ringing of your alarm. Oh great, time to go to school. You got up and went to pick out some clothes. Truly, yiur closet was one huge mess. From that mess, you picked out a nice (f/c) hoodie and some cute skinny jeans. Your eyes barely opened. You were tired from staying up all night.

As you stumbled down the stairs, half asleep, your dad rushed past you in his police uniform, kissing you quickly on the cheek. "Bye honey, have a nice day," he said, hopping into his car and driving off to work.

"Good morning, I guess....." you said, watching his car leave the drive way. Your dad was a cop, so he had to leave early and come back late. Yesterday was his day off. The cold December wind rushed over your bare shoulders.

With your eyes halfway closed, you closed the door and went to male yourself some poptarts and coffee. Looking over at the clock, you flipped out, it said 6:50. Your bus left at 7 and you still haven't brushed your hair. You quickly patted down your hair, brushed your teeth, and threw on your (f/c) shoes. Not even bothering to cook your poptart, you stuffed it in your mouth, grabbed your coffee and ran like your ass was on fire.

You barerly made it to the bus stop when Eloise pushed you away, making you fall onto the cold snow and drop your coffee. You let out a groan as she smirked at you, boarding the bus. You got up, looked at the coffee stained snow and boarded the bus after her.

When you got on, you took a seat all the way in the back. All the way to school, you were listening to some music, struggling to stay awake.

When you got there, you saw, Karkat was it? You were surprised to find outr that he attened this school. He has gotten into a fight with Eloise. You hid behind the bush to listen in on them.

Eloise: You are new here? Well I'll let you in on something. This school all obeys me! So if you even try to disobey me, the consequences would be tragic.

Karkat: Listen here you little shit. I don't care who in the fucking hell you are, I couln't care less.

Eloise's face was priceles. She just stood there baffled at what the actual fuck had just happened. Karkat just walked away from her like nothing ever happened. You couln't help yourself but start laughing at Eloise's expression, which was now pissed as fuck.

Apparently Eloise heard you and decided to throw a pebble at the the bush you were in. It hit you in the head, causing you to let out a yelp and fall out of your hiding place.

"What the fuck was that for?" you yelled. Eloise just smirked and left.

The rest of the day, you remembered the incident between Karkat and Eloise and laughed every time. For once, you laughed since your mother's death. You sighed, remembering her. A small tear rolled down your cheek as you took out a pendant with your family photo. You were 5. She got into a car crash and had to get an immediate surgery. Saddly, she didn;t get there fast enough and died.......

The bell broght you back to reality. You threw your books in your locker and headed to lunch. Shit... you thought. You forgot to pack your lunch. You had 3 dollars on you, soi you thought you could buy yourself some shit at the cafeteria.

Bad idea

As soon as you got yourself a something, Eloise decided it was a good idea to trip you in front of everyone in the cafeteria.

"Whats wrong (y/n)" she mocked. "Cant stand oin your own two feet anymore?" The whole cafeteria laughed with her. You got up, threw wehatever was left of your lunch into the thrash can and went to grab a nappkin. Sadly, they were all out.

You cursed under your breath and went to take a seat in the corner of the cafeteria. Apparently Karkat had the same idea since you ended up sitting across from him. He was eating a sandwich. He glanced at you and then quickly looked down at his food.

You tried to get the stain out off of your hoodie. When you looked back at Karkat, he was pushing the other uneaten half of his sandwitch towards you while avoiding eye contact. You sort of stared at him for a while until he interuted the silence.

"So are you going to eat it or nah?" he said

Your voice stuttered. You thanked him and took a bite of your piece of the sandwich.

After lunch, you went to the bathroom to change your hoodie. Since you had nothing else to wear, you decided to take it off. Underneath you wore a really tight long sleeve shirt that sort of changed color in the sunlight. It showed of your curves and you really hated that.

For a girl your age, you had a nice body but you really hated showing it off. Embarassed, you walked through the halls to your next class. While in class, you heard a few whispers in the back and your name. You tried to ignore it by doodling all over the page.

The bell rang as you went to your last class. Guess who you met there?

Karkat

All the seats were taken so you eventually ened up getting assigned a seat next to Karkat. (Im jealous actually) You appologised to him for having to sit next to him, ut he just ignored it like he didnt really care.

Throughout class, you weren't really listening as much as you were observing Karkat. You noticed his dark black eyes. He eventually caught you looking at him. You quickly turned away, feeling a blush creep onto your face. The curiosity got the best of you.

"Karkat..?" you whispered. He just grunted. "Hey... um.... I wanted to ask you..... are... are those horns?"

He quickly stuttered a no, trying to pat his hair down where his horns were. A blush of embarassment crept onto his face as he tried to frantically hide them. You gigled at his cute attempts to hide them. He just looked the other way, trying to hide his blush.
