It's Complicated

True to what I had said, and the girls fearful after my outburst. We had a quite dinner with only the occasional chat about the weather or how work was. Stella invited Cami to the launch as well, by the end of the night the two of them were a bit tipsy.

We split the bill three ways and then left. Luckily for me I hadn't heard another word about my toxic relationship from either of them. Cami was busy with work and a photo shoot she had, while Stella was arranging the launch party.

The night of the party was finally here and Cami and I were getting dressed. Cami wore a red sequenced dress, that stopped above her knees and had thin straps on the shoulders. She did her hair in big curls and did a glam makeup look. "I'm ready" she said walking into my room.

"I'm almost done" I said brushing some highlighter on my cheeks. I had decided to wear a white floor length wrap dress with long sleeves and a gold belt. I also curled my hair and added a red lipstick. "Wow you look like a Hollywood star" she said, "thanks and you look like a super model" I said.

We got into my car and drove to the studio. When I parked there were already cars filling up the place and what looked to be photographers. Cami and I held hands as we walked in. There were many people filling the place, with campaign in their hands chatting up other people.

"Finally you're here, wow you both look stunning" Stella said coming up to us. She wore a gold floor length sleeveless dress with a high slit on the right side. She looked like a goddess. "Thanks, so do you" Cami repiled.

"Come I want you to meet my family" she said taking my hand and dragging me with her. "Everyone I'd like you to meet two of my close friends" she said, and a group of the most gorgeous looking people turned to face us. "This is Alex and Cami my friends" she said gesturing to us.

"This is my mother Ana, my father Robert" she said pointing at the couple who didn't look a day over forty. "And...where is he?" She asked herself looking around. "Oh" she went up to a tall handsome looking guy, wearing a black armani suit and grabbed his hand before dragging him to us.

"This is my little brother Nick" she said with a hand on his shoulder and smiled at him proudly. Nick turned to us and gave us a wide award winning smile before streching out his hand. "It's nice to meet you" he said.

Saying he was hot was an understatement. He was a walking talking dream, the perfect looking guy to bring home, he was so handsome. "It's nice to meet you too, Stella always talks about you" I said giving his hand a firm shake. "Is that so? She spoke about you to me as well, but she never said how beautiful you are" he said looking at Stella who beamed with pride.

I blushed at his words. He shook hands with Cami and then they started to talk. "So have you always stayed in Miami?" Nick asked turning to look at me, we had fallen into conversation while Stella left to attend to her other guests. "Yes born and raised" I said, "What about you?"

"I was born in New York, but we moved around a lot for the company. However after I finished college I moved back to New York" he repiled. "Wow that's something" I said trying not to make things awkward.

"Cami come here, there's someone I want you to meet" Stella called, "Excuse me" Cami said before walking over to Stella and jumping into conversation with a few people. "Alex, forgive me for being forward" Nick said and I turned to face him.

"From what my sister tells me. You are single?" He said more then asked. I inwardly rolled my eyes, "actually I have a boyfriend" I said simply. "Oh I see. So you and this guy are serious" he said, "it's...it's complicated" I said.

Nick nodded before speaking again, "so does he stay far or has other commitments?" He asked curiously. "Both" I shrugged, "then at least allow me the privilege of being friends?" He held his hand out again. I took it and smiled at him,"why not?"

Nick grinned at me. "And as new friends we need to get to know each other more. So I'll pick you up for dinner next Friday" he said with a wink. He was called by someone and walked away without saying anything else.

I was stunned that things had taken such a quick turn but I had a feeling Stella and Cami were behind it. Anyway being friends won't hurt anyone, as long as he knows it.
