It's Complicated

After months of planning and decorating the hotel was finally done. Nick wanted the grand opening to be on new years Eve so that we could start the year with a bang.

We all had booked rooms at the hotel incase we partied till late and got tired. Cami wore a sliver floor length boobtube dress with a high slit on the right leg. She pined her hair up and put on full glame makeup. I wore a fitting mermaid style dress that showed off my wide hips and round bottom perfectly, the dress was black and had gold working from top to bottom. I did my hair in big curls and also did a full glame makeup look with a red lipstick.

When we got to the ball room, the party was in full swing, people where dancing, drinking and socialising. "I need a drink before I do anything" Cami said heading for the bar. "Hey beautiful" Jason said coming up behind me and wrapping an arm around my waist. "Hey handsome" I greeted him back, he was wearing a black suit with a black shirt and had the first two buttons opened showing his chest.

"Nick's been looking for you, let's go find him" Jason said and we walked toghter. At the very front of the ballroom Nick stood in a circle of other men talking with them. When his eyes caught mine he excused himself and came up to us. "Hey you look nice, I've been waiting for so long" he said when he came up to me.

"Sorry getting ready took some time" I said, "it's okay but I want to tell you something" he said. "What is it?" I asked, "I-"  " come on let's go" Rose cut him off. "Sorry it'll have to wait till after the speeches" he said and scurried off.

I was curious about what he wanted to say to me, but considering he was willing to wait till after the speeches, told me that what he wanted to say was not very important.

"Come on let's go, I've got a seat for you next to me" Jason said coming to my side and pulling me to a table. Seated there were Nick's parents, Stella, Jason, Cami and me. There was also an empty seat for Nick to sit once he was done on stage.

Nick went up to the microphone and everyone turned their attention to him. "Good evening everyone, I would like to start off with welcoming all of you and thanking you for your attendance tonight."

"Let's put aside opening the hotel because of money or wanting to expand the company. I've always wondered why my sister moved here and love Miami so much. Until I came here a few months ago, I found that it's not Miami itself that's special...it's the people in Miami that make it special" he looked at our table as he said the last part.

"When I came here I met someone" he made eye contact with me, I felt the eyes of everyone at the table turning to me. "Someone who made me feel at home, made Miami feel like a home away from home" he paused. Judging from his words I didn't like where the topic was going. "This person made me feel love and the need to start a family and have a home of my own."

My heart literally stopped at that moment. Nick loved me? Nick was in love with me? No it can't be, how could I let that happen? I'm very certain that I only like him as a friend, or did I?

Nick turned his eyes back to the room full of people, "so that's what inspired the design of this hotel. All the other branches are like resorts. This hotel is special, it's a home away from home. It's a family place for everyone to relax and feel at home. And that's the open mindset I hope we all have going into the new year" he held a glass of champagne up and so did everyone in the room.

Reluctantly I held mine up too. "A toast to the new year and to new beginnings" he looked to me again. "Excuse me" I say getting up from my seat while everyone drank and conversed.

From the corner of my eye I saw Nick coming towards our table, thankfully an elderly man goes up to him and he has to halt his steps to talk to the old man. I pick up the pace and quickly exit the the ballroom, I walk out of the French doors, down the stairs and into the garden. I sigh as I sit by the fountain.

I run my hands through my hair trying to get my thoughts in order and breathing under control. "Alex!" I look up and see Jason come jogging to men "are you okay?" He asked standing in front of me.

"Yeah I guess so" I shrug, "I'm sorry I didn't mean to run off like that. I just needed a moment to breathe" I said. I look up at Jason and he had pity in his eyes for me. "Tell me something Jason" I say, "What should I tell you?" He smirks.

I shrug again, "I don't know anything to take my mind off of Nick and what just happened" I say. "Actually there is something I've been wanting to tell you for a while now."
