"Geralt, please slow down!" You squealed, arms tightly clenched around the witcher's waist. Roach sped along the dirt road beneath you, bouncing you in the saddle as you tried to hold on for dear life.

"Hold on, we're almost there."

You braced yourself as you tried to remain patient. You soon forgot about the horse you were riding as you started to recognize the scenery around you. Of course, it wasn't pixelated as you had viewed it from your game, but you knew you were getting close to Novigrad.

Finally, you realized where Geralt was actually taking you.

"Are we going to see Jaskier!?" You practically screamed with excitement. Geralt tossed a glare over his shoulder at you. He must've been startled by your sudden outburst.

"Is that what he goes by these days...?" Geralt muttered, barely audible over the hoof tossed gravel below. "We're going to see Dandelion. Have you met him?"

"Uhhh... No. I've heard of him though, but he goes by Dandelion or Jaskier..."

"Hmm."

Shortly after, you arrived at the gates of Novigrad. Geralt stabled Roach and pulled a cloak from his saddlebag.

"Here, wear this. Thieves run wild in this city, you don't want to draw attention to your..." He looked at your pajamas once again, never finishing his sentence. You took the cloak and drew it around your shoulders, ensuring that your mysterious outfit was hidden.

Geralt nodded in approval once you seemed ready. "Stay close, (Y/N)."

You stuck to Geralt like glue, you were like his shadow as you followed him through the city. Your destination was a short distance from the gate you entered through, and yet you had already witnessed a variety of harmful characters. You pulled your cloak tighter, hoping to feel an inch of safety within its fabric embrace.

A firm hand on your shoulder pulled your attention back to what was in front of you. You read a large rustic sign that said "Rosemary and Thyme" and recognized it as the entrance to Jaskier's tavern.

You followed Geralt inside, who received a warm welcome from the dwarf called Zoltan.

"And who's this?" Zoltan asked, his attention now directed at you. He seemed wary of you, his steel eyes forced you to shrink within your cloak.

"(Y/N)." Geralt stated. "Where's Dandelion?"

"Your guess is good as mine." Zoltan huffed as he made his way towards the bar. "You seem in need of a drink."

You stood awkwardly to the side. Zoltan's comment wasn't directed at anyone in particular, you figured he said it enough when the bar was busy. Geralt didn't answer, he was occupied with scouring the tavern for Dandelion, better known to you as Jaskier. Zoltan's eyes landed on yours as he pushed a large mug across the bar.

"These bastards treat me like a maid." He boomed with a hearty laugh, though you could tell he was irritated that Geralt had ignored him and left you hanging. "I've only got cheap ale in stock, but it's better than nothing. Come along."

You carefully balanced yourself on a stool at the bar and looked down at the murky brown liquid in front of you. You were no alcohol aficionado, but you were pretty sure it wasn't supposed to look like...that...

Still, you held your breath and downed a swig of the nasty liquor in order to please the man before you. He released another laugh as your lips started to pucker and tears formed in your eyes.

"Ah, c'mon. It's not that bad!"

You shook your head in disagreement, struggling not to barf. Geralt quickly returned to your side, pushing the mug away from you.

"Zoltan, (Y/N) needs a fresh set of clothes." Geralt finally mentioned.

Zoltan raised an eyebrow at you. "Why?"

"It's a long story. Does Dandelion have anything extra?"

Zoltan stroked his beard as he thought for a moment. A lightbulb seemed to flicker above his head as he moved towards a back room in the tavern.

He returned with an assortment of outfits. Your eyes were drawn to the flashy garments that seemed incredibly expensive. They were most likely spare costumes for one of Jaskier's performances.

Geralt crushed your dreams.

"Nothing that stands out too much."

Zoltan dropped the beautiful garments with a sigh. He laid out a thin assortment of mundane apparel for you to pick through. "Come, (Y/N), take your pick. I've been trying to get that damned Dandelion to throw some of these out..."

You carefully approached the selection and allowed your hands to gently glide across the fabrics. You could choose from a simple tunic and trouser set, or a clean barmaiden's dress. Both outfits seemed to fit you perfectly, both in size and in color combinations. It was strange...

After a moment, you chose your outfit and followed Zoltan to an empty room to change. Once you were dressed, you folded your pajamas and pulled the cloak back around your shoulders. Geralt showed you where a stash chest was and you gently placed your pjs inside.

"Geralt, if you don't mind me asking, why do we need to meet Jask- er- Dandelion anyways?" You asked, curious about why Geralt insisted on seeing the bard.

"He's the last person to see Ciri. She's the best person to help us."

"What help do we need?"

"(Y/N), you can't stay in this dimension forever." Geralt stated.

You tried not to pout because you knew he was right. "We didn't even get to go on an epic quest yet... Now what am I gonna write my paper about...?"

Geralt didn't seem to hear you, but his attention was drawn away by the door suddenly bursting open. Dirt and dust were thrown up by the movement of the tavern door. As light filtered through, a figure stood within the settling particles, barely recognizable until you heard his voice.

"I'm baaacckkk~"
