Item #: SCP-7035

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-7035 instances are to be kept in naturally decorated 3-meter x 3-meter x 5-meter rooms. They are to be fed two kilograms of chicken or beef and four ounces of clean drinking water every day, at least two to three times.

Obtaining SCP-7035's venom should be done with caution and gentleness towards the subject. One Class-D personnel is to be sent in to carry out this procedure. Should they be bitten by SCP-7035, now dubbed SCP-7035-A, they are to be removed from the chamber after its effects take place (if they manage to not be consumed by SCP-7035), isolated, and examined, and reverted to their original form via injection of SCP-7035's venom.

Should SCP-7035-A breach isolation and start attacking personnel, it is to be terminated on site.

Any reports of SCP-7035 are to be investigated and the area is to be searched for any possible SCP-7035 instances, if one or more is confirmed in the area, containment teams are to be sent to capture them. The population of SCP-7035 is to be kept at a minimum of seventy instances both in the wild and in containment.

Description:
SCP-7035 is a species of 1.5-meter long cobras (Naja) with fangs of up to three inches long. DNA testing has been slightly inconclusive, though most of SCP-7035's DNA has shown to match the DNA of an Indian Cobra (Naja Naja), its scale design has also shown to match the design of the Indian Cobra. It is slightly shorter than the Indian Cobra. It seems to have the instincts of an average cobra when responding to interactions and threats but is usually less aggressive to staff, and in rare cases, affectionate.

When SCP-7035 bites a biological object such as an animal or a human, regardless of the instance's age, the venom that enters their bloodstream transfigures their cells to match an entirely different species, transforming the affected subject into a member of that species. This process takes three to five minutes to complete. It does not seem to matter how much venom is inserted into the veins, because it is observed to multiply. A transformed instance is classified as SCP-7035-A.

Subjects claim to not feel pain during the transfiguration. Affected subjects may feel instincts similar to the species they had turned into, such as a lion's aggression, or a rabbit's shyness. This includes predatory and dietary instincts. Though somehow, SCP-7035-A instances still retain their memories. If left in their animal state for more than 3-5 months, they will start losing memories and act more animalistic depending on the form they have taken. SCP-7035-A in a predatory form will act more violent towards personnel if not fed proportionately.

So far, tested subjects have transformed into the following:
Subject D-4591, male - A common house cat (Felis Catus).
Subject D-3790, male - A white mouse (Mus Musculus), subsequently eaten by SCP-7035-1.
Subject D-9866, female - A one-meter long cobra (Naja), which SCP-7035-3 proceeded to [Data Expunged].
Subject D-5309, male - A brown stallion (Equus Ferus Caballus).

If SCP-7035-A is bitten again by SCP-7035, they have a chance of reverting to their original form between 1-7 times. SCP-7035 also seems to live longer than the average of its cousin, the Indian Cobra, at thirty years.

SCP-7035 was discovered when reports of missing tourists were slowly rising in Gir Forest, Gujarat in India, as well as sightings of animals that were not native to that area. During a police investigation, an officer unintentionally threatened a cobra suspected to be an SCP-7035 instance, provoking it to snap at the officer. As he was given medical attention, instead of expiring from the venom, his DNA instead started to shift and soon he turned into a blue robin. The Foundation was called and was able to capture four SCP-7035 instances in the area, all designated SCP-7035-1, SCP-7035-2, SCP-7035-3, and SCP-7035-4.
