Yeonjun was apart of the small percent of people born into privilege. His family owned a company and owned small percentages of other small companies. They were worth millions and he was lucky to have never known struggle before. Until his 16th birthday.
Where his family filed for bankruptcy. They were barely able to keep their lavish lifestyle up and Yeonjun wondered where they got the money to keep their huge penthouse in Seoul. He didn't care which made people think he was ungrateful but he was just used to things working out in his favor.
He went out with friends frequently, had drinks, slept with whoever he wanted. He didn't have any worries and he liked his relaxing life because no one interfered.
"We going for drinks tonight?" His best friend Taehyun asked as they walked around the city together smoking.
"Yeah...is Yeji going to be there?" He asked not looking at him.
"I knew it!" He yelled as he stopped walking and Yeonjun gave him a confused look. "Don't look at me like that. The last party she came to, you two fucked didn't you?"
He snickered and slowly shook his head. "We didn't...yet. I haven't scored in a while, I'm might try it tonight."
"She'd definitely let you. She's into you really bad man." They started walking again.
"Shut up." He laughed and shoved him a little. "God, my parents have been up my ass a lot lately. Telling me not to go out so much, they are constantly whispering around me...it pisses me off. They're up to something."
"Still having money problems huh?"
"You have no idea and neither do I. They just say 'we have it handled no need to know' but they look like they already lost everything." He threw his cigarette to the ground and stepped on it.
"I got you if you need anything."
"Don't start with that sappy shit." They walked into a cafe and looked at the menu. "I kinda want boba tea and a donut."
"Yeah that sounds good, I think I'll get that too."
They stood in line and Yeonjun texted Yeji, smirking at their suggestive text messages.
He heard snickering behind him and murmurs that were becoming a little louder. He sighed and now they were at a volume that he couldn't ignore.
"Look at him, he looks like a fucking girl." One of the people said behind him.
"Please stop."
"What's wrong? Don't you like this? You're all pretty like a girl because you want a guy's attention right? Now you have it and you wanna complain, just like a bitch."
Yeonjun turned around and met eyes with the guy they were picking on. Long brown hair, rosy cheeks, and big brown doll like eyes.
He was pretty like a girl.
He looked like he was on the brink of tears, Yeonjun sighed and looked at the guy picking on him.
"Hey, you're talking so fucking loud I can't hear myself think. Leave him and shut the fuck up."
"What did you just say to me?" He stepped forward and shoved the guy to the side, Taehyun caught him since he lost his balance.
"Dude, I'm really hungry." Taehyun said as he stood next to Yeonjun. "If we're gonna fight let's just do it. I can put him to sleep right now."
The guy could tell he wasn't joking and scoffed. "Whatever, Fuck you!" He turned and left.
"You scared him off." Yeonjun said as they turned back around.
"Like I said I'm hungry."
"Then we should've went to a restaurant not a fucking cafe."
"But I want boba tea and donut."
Yeonjun opened his mouth but felt something tap his shoulder. He turned and saw the guy he just helped.
"Yeah?"
"...I-I just wanted to say...thank you. Both of you." He fidgeted with his wallet. "I'd like to buy your drinks and donuts for you."
Yeonjun shook his head. "No need."
"No I...I insist. As a thank you and for the trouble I caused, I want to."
Taehyun nudged him and gave him a look.
He sighed. "Sure, thanks."
They all ordered together and he paid.
"What's your name?" Taehyun asked.
"Beomgyu." He answered with a smile.
"Well, thanks for paying Beomgyu."
"Thanks for helping." He looked at Yeonjun. "You are?"
He looked up from his phone. "Yeonjun."
"Hi Yeonjun, uhhh thank you."
"You said that already."
"...right, sorry."
Taehyun looked at Beomgyu then Yeonjun then back at Beomgyu.
"I'm Taehyun by the way."
Beomgyu smiled at him and then his name was called. They got their order and sat down while Beomgyu took a final glance over at their table before he left.
Taehyun noticed it since he was facing the door.
"Dude," he slapped Yeonjun's hand that was holding his phone.
"Tae fuck off–"
"That Beomgyu guy definitely checked you out before he left."
Yeonjun looked at him. "...no he didn't."
"He did! It was all dreamy like." He teased.
"I hate you."
"You can pull guys and girls. I think you have a gift."
"An unwanted gift because I'm not gay. Shut up and eat your damn donut."
When Yeonjun got back home he was called into a room.
"Yeonjun! Come for a moment, quickly!" His mom called from the living room.
He walked in and both his parents were sitting in the living room together. He stood there frozen for a moment.
"...if something happened I didn't do it. You know Taehyun is stupid."
"Taehyun is far from my concerns and usually you're the one causing trouble not him." She gestured to the couch in front of them. "Sit sweetie."
He sat down and looked at them. "Did grandma die?"
"What no no. No one is dead, it's a business thing your father and I have for you."
He relaxed a little and then tensed up. "Wait, you never involve me in your business plans."
His parents looked at each other and then at him. "We figured o he a way to help with our money issue. There is a company that is on the rise, very profitable. We want a reason to get signed on so we can hold a stake in the company." His father explained.
"What does this have to do with me? I'm not taking over any time soon."
"No but we think you can help us get in good graces with the family...they have a son...who is gay and I just think you could maybe befriend him."
Yeonjun looked at them and then laughed.
"You're joking?" He continued to laugh. "I'm not gay!" He stood up. "What are you two saying? You want me to basically flirt with this guy so you two can play tea party with his family?"
His mother stood up. "Honey we need you to understand that we have had to make a lot of sacrifices for you. We worked very hard and what happened to us wasn't fair. You have a chance to help this family, to help your parents. All we ask is that you hang out with him."
He rolled his eyes. "If I do this...you'll let me have what I've been asking for, for years right?"
His parents exchanged looks and then looked at him.
"If that's what you truly want then yes. We will give it to you as soon as we sign that contract you can keep him around, you can ditch him, we don't care. A contract is a contract and if they break it we can sue them for our millions. Start a new company, we'll be out of debt." His mother smiled. "We'll get our life back."
Yeonjun rubbed his head. This was going to be a pain in his ass.
