The night was dark but not quiet. The battle had commenced. The Wizarding World would change after the battle. As Lord Voldemort watched calmly from the highest hill in the Forbidden Forest, the castle walls were slowly being blasted apart. Hogwarts was dying, and there were few within its walls fighting for good.
All around the castle, there were figures of black smoke and people on brooms flying around, casting jets of spells and curses at each other. Some flew in and out of the castle walls, others circled the area, having a clear aerial view of the destruction below. In the castle, there were fewer good fighters than bad, but nothing beat the amount of debris caused from the fight erupting all around.
Fred and George were locked in combat with 3 Death Eaters, a fourth laying unconscious beneath a pile of debris.
"STUPEFY!" Fred cried, Stunning one of the battling Death Eaters.
The hallway they were standing in they had walked through so many times, and the fleeting memory of all the pranks they had pulled in this corridor entered George's mind as he blocked a curse, his life flashing before his eyes.
"Not me, you won't!" George taunted, firing back and sending his opponent flying backwards.
There was another bang from behind them and George turned, seeing another Death Eater entering the corridor. This one did not wear a mask, and George recognized him as Avery. He turned and was locked in combat with him, the twins now fighting back to back against a common enemy.
"I'm not dying tonight!" Fred cheered, firing a large burst of yellow light at his attacker who deflected it into the wall next to them, causing it to blast apart and rocks fly everywhere.
George had fallen forwards while Avery stumbled back. George kept his wand firmly in his hand as he and Avery fired at the same time, both curses colliding. Fred and his opponent had completely fallen to their sides, both their wands were lost. Fred lost all sense of decency and charged straight at him, jumping on top of his opponent and punching him repeatedly until his hood fell off to reveal a bloodied face. Avery saw what was happening and redirected his attention momentarily, firing a hex at Fred, tying his hands and legs together. The one he had been punching got the better of him and grabbed his throat, strangling him.
George, who glanced at what happened, retaliated in fury and cursed Avery, who groaned in pain and doubled over. George quickly turned to Fred and aimed his wand at Fred's attacker, firing another hex and this time, the same hands he was using to strangle Fred started to shrink. Fred managed to break free from his grip, since Avery was cursed and the binds holding him had loosened, and kicked his attacker in the groin. Fred pushed him away and got up. He noticed Avery was slowly gathering himself. Picking up the wand of the one he had just kicked, he directed it at Avery's face and there was another sharp bang. The next instant, Avery was unconscious.
"Where's your wand?" George asked.
"Somewhere in this mess," Fred glanced at the gaping hole he had caused when he had fired a dangerous curse moments earlier.
Despite the screams and yells from all around them, the corridor they were standing in was empty aside from the twins and the fallen Death Eaters. Ever since the fight broke out, they had not had a moment to stop and breathe.
"Wonder where the rest are," George said.
"Kicking some ass probably. We just did," Fred playfully punched his twin on the shoulder. "Hey when this is over, wanna go to that Muggle cafe we found last year? What do they call it? Carbuckel or something."
"Starbucks," George said. "Alright. But whoever gets more Death Eaters tonight has to pay for the other. I'm 4 already and you're only on 2."
"3. I got someone in green running away."
