Hogwarts' True Headmaster

As the walls of Hogwarts were being blown apart and destroyed, the fighters defending Hogwarts remained hopeful. Within the Great Hall was what should be the long rows of seats and tables, decorations and the Headmaster's chair. But instead it was nothing but shattered glass, dark creatures and the few Hogwarts fighters battling Dark forces.

"We can't hold them for any longer!" Remus yelled as he battled individually against a masked Death Eater.

Kingsley and Mad-Eye Moody were both fighting two at once while Firenze was seen fending off an Acromentula with his bow, his saddle of arrows nowhere to be seen.

"Have faith Remus!" Kingsley shouted as he swiped his wand and both Death Eaters he was battling were knocked backwards. "We cannot give up!"

Remus was backed into a corner by his combatant. Thinking quickly, he flicked his wand up towards his right, a spell hitting one of the Hogwarts torches and the lit fire was spiraled in the air before ascending upon who he was fighting, causing him to fly back to the other side of the Hall. Moody, using his magical walking stick, blocked two spells in one swift movement before stamping the ground with it, his adversaries being sucked in from the ground until they disappeared.

"Where is the Potter boy!" Moody growled. "We are doing this for him!"

"He is off on his mission," Remus replied. "Remember Alastor, he is our only hope!"

"Seems like a far-fetched-"

Moody's sentence was cut off as another round of Death Eaters flew through the large windows, 4 masked figures landing all around the Great Hall with one appearing right in front of Mad-Eye.

"You!" Mad-Eye growled angrily, his magical eye locked on his opponent.

Barty Crouch Jr sneered as he fired a repeated round of curses and jinxes at Moody, the two of them locked in a serious fight right in the middle of the Hall. Remus ran towards the large doors as Kingsley whirled his body and wand around and the 4 Death Eaters fell to the ground grasping their mask, as though it was burning their face.

Remus kicked the doors open to find a Dementor waiting for him on the other side. In the blink of an eye, all hope was lost. He couldn't move, the demented being hovering over his helpless figure. Kingsley, who was following Remus behind him, raised his wand.

"EXPECTO PATRONUM!"

A lynx burst on the end of his wand and attacked the Dementor, sending it away. Remus regained his composure as the walls shook around them.

"Watch the corridors!" Kingsley barked as he ran off into the distance.

Remus busied himself, helping a few lost students up and away from the disaster. One of them was stirring by the side of the corridor. Remus went to help him before realizing who it was.

"Draco," he muttered. "What are you... You have to leave!"

Draco looked like he was dizzy, his eyes wandered around aimlessly. He came to his senses as Remus shook his arms. Realizing where he was, he slipped away from Remus and started off, Remus chasing him.

"Draco wait!"

Draco ran through the doors of the Great Hall and paused as he saw Mad-Eye Moody stumbling back from Barty Crouch Jr's attack. Turning to face Draco, he cried out in anger.

"Traitor!" he screamed, pointing his wand at Draco.

Remus ran into the Great Hall but he was too late. The still figure of Draco Malfoy only stood there for a moment when he was blasted off his feet.

"No!" Remus tried to grab Malfoy while he was in the air, as though grabbing him would save him. But he knew as soon as the Killing Curse was shouted by Barty Crouch Jr, there was no saving what was already lost.

"Son!"

Barty turned towards Remus, although he did not scream. Remus turned and saw Barty Crouch stalking through the large doors and past him, a house-elf following behind him.

"Father..." his voice had no emotion, neither did his expression. It was like the world around him had stopped and it was between him and his father. There was no sign of remorse, anger or joy on the face of Barty Crouch Sr. It was disappointment.

"Have I made you proud?" Barty Jr asked proudly.

"Master mustn't!" Winky cried, tuggin at the robes of his former master. "You mustn't do it!"

Barty Sr pointed his wand at his son, though he did not retaliate. He just watched, as though egging him on. Suddenly, the room turned black, literally. The torches and candles that lit the room were all turned to smoke, darkening the room until no one could see further than their own arms. It was cold, but then colder. Remus, who muttered "Lumos" to give himself some light, recognized that cold, sinking feeling instantly. It was like the battle stopped all of a sudden; there was no noise except for a cold breeze passing them.

"No!" a voice screamed, it pierced the Hall but then was rendered silent as quickly as it appeared.

"EXPECTO PATRONUM!" another voice shouted from a distance.

A phoenix appeared in the midst of the darkness and flew around, circling the Hall and singing beautifully as it flew out the window and into the night sky. The torches and candles were lit again and Remus saw Albus Dumbledore marching into the Great Hall, staring straight at the large window in front of him. A fury of black smoke and hooded figures on broomsticks started flying in. Remus, Mad-Eye and Barty Crouch Sr raised their wands but Dumbledore took one large swipe of his own wand and an enormous gush of wind erupted and stroke the oncoming Death Eaters like a hurricane and sent them flying out the way they came in.

The Hogwarts fighters raised their arms to cover their faces as the rush of dangerous wind flew past them and died. Remus stared at Dumbledore, amazed and relieved of his power. Mad-Eye stood around no longer and strode out, ready for another fight. Dumbledore approached Barty Crouch Sr, who was kneeling over a body.

"There is nothing you can do Barty," Dumbledore said calmly. "The Dementors are ruthless. They would have done it to anyone."

"My son..." Barty whistled, clutching the head of his soulless son. "Turned by the power of You-Know-Who, all because I was a terrible father."

"There is nothing you can do now Barty," Dumbledore said.

Suddenly, a strange sequence of events occurred. First, there was another piercing scream from the castle walls, no one knew where it was coming from. Then, another large crashing sound as the castle was bombarded with more attacks. Just as Barty had let go of his child and prepared to go back into battle, a voice in the distance shouted something that snapped everyone back into sharp attention.

"Potter!"

Remus and Dumbledore began to run out of the Great Hall when a large hissing sound erupted from the castle walls. Appearing right in the middle of the Great Hall, where Barty Crouch Jr did earlier, was Lord Voldemort.
