You turn your head fully to him.
You sighed...
"049 I...I love you..."
Whatever expression his eyes could give... He looked so happy... But-
"You don't have to say that Y/N-"
He froze, you kissed the side of his mask.
"Oh my...that was...unexpected..."
"It's not a lie... I just... I guess part of me was scared to have feelings... And it's not you... It's just my past...Part of me avoids these kinds of things...And..."
You stared at the floor, subconsciously your voice got quieter, "And... What if someone hears this and... Who knows what they might actually try to do...".
You felt a hand on your cheek, your head was lifted. Now looking at 049 made you blush...
Great...
"It will be fine, mon amour"
You jokingly swatted his hand away, "Stop!".
"Too much?"
"YES! Too much! Too soon!"
The elevator door opened.
"What now?" he asked you.
You remembered the situation, "I guess you go back where you're supposed to be and... Maybe I can try to fix everything that happened. Maybe get assigned to work with you again?".
"I doubt they'll let that happen."
"Yeah... It's not like we live in some book..."
"We could always just leave this place together."
You laguhed, "Nice try. No.".
"Well, at least I tried-"
You watched as he went completely silent. Oh no...
"049... Don't."
"Y/N, I thought surely you would understand I have to-"
"You stay right here! Do not move!" You yelled as you ran. You had to find whoever it was that was down here, hopefully, it wasn't a group of guards or something... Of course, they had to ruin everything...
But the good side of you isn't going to let anyone die.
You ran for a bit, eventually leading almost directly to 049's containment...
"Collin?! Are you crazy?! Are you trying to die?"
"No, I'm trying to save your life. I knew you would eventually come here, if anyone else sees you here they'll-"
"What? Wipe my memory again? Kill me? Demote me to a D-Class? I already know what happened."
"But how-?"
"049."
"Y/N..."
"Look... Today had been... a roller coaster..."
"You know, you're lucky our site is good at containing things after these breaches."
"Yeah... Well, not as good as preventing them." You replied.
"Wait- If 049-Where is-?" you watched Collin's face change to pure terror.
"Relax... He's not gonna pop out of the shadows and kill you."
"Oh... good..."
You smile, "Might cure you though...".
"Not funny, Y/N!"
