049 turned and stared at the glass separating him and those who wanted to speak to him.
"Yes?"
"Because of the past event, there is news that some believe you would want to hear..."
The rest of what was said was quiet, 049 could barely hear it. "...Whether you like it or not..."
"On (undisclosed date), Dr. Y/N L/N was shot dead. All efforts to bring back Dr. Y/N L/N were ineffective-"
049 looked away. It didn't shock him but... Hearing it still hurt.
"How does this news affect you 049? It is known you two had some kind of relationship."
049 did not immediately answer. Any other attempt to was anyway.
"...Interesting... Seems they were right. Have something to hide 049? Perhaps it would've been better if they lived-"
"And what would you have done if they did?" 049 asked.
"No point in speaking in something that could never happen."
049 shook his head. "Is that all you came here for?"
"Mostly yes... And- Oh, seems this time will be even shorter than expected. More pressing matters to attend to. Goodbye 049."
049 sighed as the room was once silent again.
At least they weren't trying to take the music box.
He went back to reading his notes.
Connor, Tammy, and Collin all sat together at a table.
"I... I can't believe Y/N is gone..." Tammy said.
Connor looked at Collin.
"You've been quiet... But I sense you want to say something."
"It's not fair. Y/N saved my life so many times and I couldn't do anything to help... Why couldn't I have died? I already know I have this "pestilence", but both times I came across 049 in a breach I lived..."
"Really?"
"Yeah... Y/N told him not to and... 049 just... listened."
"I know they were like friends or something with the thing but... wow..." Connor said.
"Friends? Nah..."
"What do you mean?" Tammy asked.
"He called Y/N, 'My love'."
"WHAT?!"
"Shhhh! Quiet down."
"Sorry..."
"I wish we could have known what happened..." Tammy said.
Connor looked past the cafeteria door. I wonder what 049 is going through right now...I shouldn't care but... If he watched you die and he loved you... That must've been really hard...
Connor sighed, "We miss you, Y/N. But you know... if you were still here... you would never hear the end of the questions...or jokes.".
