Un-intended: chapter six
"Hi, welcome to Sunny's bakery." Pierce sighed while typing away on his phone. I snatched it out of his hand and placed it on the counter. "Hey!"
"Pierce, come on now." I crossed my arms. "That's Kelly Osmand, she's a huge blogger and is known for her critiques so I need you to be on your game. I seriously can not afford a bad review."
"Of course boss." He sighed.
I watched as the brunette stared down the menu. I was more than nervous. Kelly Osmand wasn't a celebrity, but she had a name to her. Kelly is a blogger who got her stardom through a segment that she calls "Kelly's unique critique." She could be pretty cutthroat. She was an influencer and if Kelly deemed your food nasty, then it was nasty.
"Hi, what's the most popular item here?" She questioned while typing away on her phone.
"Probably our southern-made apple pie." Pierce smiled. "Pair it with our apple cider and it'll transport you to a hot day in Alabama at a picnic."
"Well then, I'll have both. I will also try the cream puffs."
"Coming right up." Lola smiled while grabbing a white cup.
My phone buzzed and I looked at the Id.
"It's Luca, I'm going to step to the back really quickly," I said before walking back. "Hello."
"Hi, this is Enid. I'm Luca's assistant. I'm calling to relay a message. Luca wants to meet for dinner at his penthouse around eight. We will see you then." She hung up the phone.
"Yes, I sure am available." I scoffed.
How rude.

My grandmother always told me, food was the way to anyone's heart. Which was correct. What better way to win someone over than with a delicious reward? But not just anything. A southern delicacy. My grandmothers' famous pound cake.
I remember when my grandmother used to make it when I was younger. She did not play about her pound cake. When it was in the oven, no one was allowed in the kitchen. No one could open the oven, no one could breathe near the oven. She swore up and down that any sudden move would make the cake fall.
But, after tip-toeing around the kitchen, it was all worth it. She'd cut me and my sister a slice of cake and sit us down at the table with a cold glass of milk.
So. When Luca DeSantos texted me and asked me to meet for dinner, I knew the perfect dessert. My grandmas' pound cake.
"What's in here." Jorja walked into the kitchen towards the oven.
"No!" Lola and I shouted in unison.
"What?" Jorja furrowed her eyebrows before slowly backing up.
"I'm making a pound cake so don't walk near the oven and don't open it. It'll sink in and then it'll be weird and too dense." I shook my head. "So don't open it!"
"Why are you stressing over a pound cake?" Jorja questioned while grabbing a banana.
"Baby daddy invited her over for dinner to chat." Lola typed away on her computer. "She thinks the pound cake will coerce him to be in the baby's life."
"I'm just bringing a peace offering," I said.
"Right." Jorja nodded. "Omg have you ever seen the music waitress?"
"No."
"It's about a waitress who finds out she's pregnant. Watch it." Pierce chuckled.
"So funny." I rolled my eyes.
