Un-intended: chapter nineteen

My grandmother always told me, when someone throws a rock at you, throw a big ass boulder. She always taught me to be strong and face my fears. Spears' never back down. Thats why we have our last name. You face the enemy head on, stance firm, head high, and shoulders back. That was the only advice that I didn't follow of my grandmothers.

From a young age I always wanted to be a peace maker. I avoided conflict at all cost. It wasn't like me to defend myself, I usually had Lola to come to my defense. Being ambushed by Lucas' sister was a huge surprise. It scared me back to the little girl who always got picked on for being different.

What was I to do? Tell Luca that one of his remaining family members was bullying me? I couldn't. I couldn't dare. But am I supposed to sit and let the false things Viola said stand?

"Red velvet cupcakes?" Lola walked into the kitchen and furrowed her eyebrows. "Lulu what's wrong? You only make these when you're upset."

"Nothing is wrong." I tried hiding my face so she couldn't sea the tears that stained it.

"Why are you crying, lovey?" Her face softened. She pulled me into a hug.

"I don't know." I sighed. "Hormones?"

"Did Luca say something to you? That entitled rich boy-"

"No, Lola. I'm fine." I interrupted before dusting my hands off on my apron.

"You're not, but when you're ready to tell me I'm here."

There was a firm knock at the door causing me and Lola to jump. She walked towards the door and looked through the peephole. "It's Luca."

My eyes went wide. "I'm not here, tell him I'm not here."

"What? Why?"

I hurried to the hallway and slightly peeked to see what was going on. Lola scrunched her eyebrows before opening the door. Luca stood with a concerned look on his face. He had flowers in one hand and his other hand was tucked in his pocket.

"Hi Lola, is Luna here?"

"She's at the bakery." Lola said hesitantly.

"I went by there. I'm just worried. She took off yesterday and hasn't responded to any of my phone calls." Luca sighed.

"We've been dealing with the bakery closing down, so maybe she stepped off somewhere?"

No Lola, why would you tell him that?

"The bakery closing? She didn't mention that to me."

"Oh, she didn't? You know pregnancy and stuff. She probably forgot to."

"Right." He nodded. "Well when she returns home, can you give these to her? And can you please tell her to call me?"

"I will!" Lola grabbed the flowers.

"Thank you." He said before walking away.

Lola closed the door before clearing her throat. "So, since I just lied for you, I need to know what is going on."

"He brought me flowers?" I said while grabbing the bouquet.

"Luna." Lola said warningly.

I sighed. We both sat down on the couch before I began recounting the vents that happened yesterday. Lola angrily huffed while standing up.

"Oh hell no. This racist bitch had the audacity to belittle you? Like we came from nothing? I know they might be loaded, but we didn't come from sticks. I need to see that bitch right now and give her a piece of my fist."
