Un-intended: chapter seven

The first step to being a successful businessman is to not let anything get in the way. Businessmen are their business. Their business is their partner, wife, and child. You stick with your business and you don't stray from it.

"Brother!" Jordan smiled while walking into my office.

"Yo." I nodded while typing away on my computer.

"My new nightclub is opening tonight, you still attending?"

"Hell yeah. You know I love a good nightclub."

"Just making sure." He sat down on the couch while typing on his phone. "What are you working on?"

"These new graphics for my cologne line. I'm trying to decide which picture I want to use. Should I do the hot bachelor look or the serious businessman look?" I questioned while clicking back and forth between the two pictures.

"Sexy sells."

"I'm sexy in both."

"Bachelor."

"Good choice."

"So, have you talked to the girl?"

"Yeah, I invited her over for dinner four days ago, and bro, she made this cake that was out of this world. I can't remember the name, but I think it was the best cake I had ever eaten. Do you want a slice? I brought some with me."

"So you guys didn't discuss anything else?"

"Yeah, we did."

"So, what's the plan."

"I told her that I would give her five hundred a month until the baby comes and I'll pay for doctor visits. The rest afterward is covered." I shrugged while closing my laptop.

"No discussion on custody?"

"What's the discussion? I told her I'll pay for nannies and things the baby needs. It can know I'm its dad."

"You seriously don't plan on being involved? Like at all."

"I am involved."

"Being involved is more than just providing funds."

"This would be a dream to anyone, being able to have a baby for free basically. What else does she need from me? I barely know the girl." I huffed.

"You can get to know her, are you seriously gonna have a child roam the streets not knowing who their father is? Also, stop saying it, it dehumanizes the baby."

"I said that he can know me."

"How do you know the baby is a he?"

"Oh my God, give me a break."

"Look, you are the only one who can carry the family's last name on. Isn't that special? To continue mom and dad's legacy?"

"Don't use that on me." I shook my head.

"Just think about it okay?"

"That's not my life. I like to party and drink. I like to come home fucked up and not face any consequences because I am my own person."

"Yeah, but you can change."

"What do you not understand, Jordan? I don't want to be a dad, I'm the life of the party. I want to take shots and party till one in the morning, not change diapers. I'm young so let me be young."

"If only it was that easy. You are so immature, you make immature actions and run away from the results. Grow up man, it's time to stop running from life. You don't want to be a good person and father just because you wanna take shots and live this empty life?"
