Un-intended: chapter sixteen
I dreaded the day that we had to back home. Back to real life. Dubai spoiled me with its beautiful beaches and skyscrapers. New York had skyscrapers, but it lacked the blue skies. It had its sunny days, but New York isn't fun when you live in it.
I had to go back to the turmoil with Lola, the bakery, and my anxious thoughts. I had to return to my crummy apartment, shared with two other people who were barely making rent.
It felt nice to be pampered and cared for. I haven't felt like that in years.
Moving to New York was a decision that I wasn't confident in. I wanted independence from my parents, but that resulted in them cutting us off.
It was hard and for a moment, I felt like I had it. I felt like I was going to be okay, but somehow, life always knocks me down.
Luca sat down in the chair across from me. We were boarding the jet. He looked at me before letting out a soft smile.
I smiled back.
And Luca...
I somehow started to develop feelings for him...
Maybe it was because we had sex, maybe it was our moment in the car accident, but I somehow began to see him.
"We're going to be on the plane for a while, if you want, I can have Enid run and grab something for you before she boards her plane."
"Why isn't she riding with us?" I questioned.
"She's going to Columbia to visit family. Did you want anything?"
"Oh no, I'm good. I have my Snuggie just in case I get cold."
"A snuggie?"
"Yeah. It's like a blanket gown." I shrugged.
"Noted." He nodded.
I picked up the magazine and opened it. I read the ad before lowering it.
"Have you ever met Athena Landon?" I questioned.
"Multiple times, why?"
"Jorja loves her and her ad is in this magazine." I shrugged. "Just curious, what's she like? This is for Jorja, not me."
"Uh. Nice? I guess. It was just about business so I'm not sure."
I nodded.
His phone buzzed and he pulled it from his pocket.
"The pilot is about to take off. He's just waiting for our go. Are you sure you don't want anything?"
"Yeah."
"Okay. Back to New York."
* * *
I fluttered my eyes open before squinting. We were still on the jet, I wasn't aware how long I had been sleeping, but it was dark out.
Luca had a pair of black glasses on and to be honest, it made him even sexier. He typed away on his computer. Was he up the entire time?
"How long do we have left?" I stretched.
"Six hours." He closed his laptop before taking off his glasses.
"Ugh." I groaned. "I'm so sore, Luca."
"Why?" He smirked.
"Because I'm carrying two babies in my stomach." I winced while trying to stretch around in my seat.
He smiled. "Right."
"You look very studious." I started. "What are you up to?"
"I'm being sued."
