We heard a beep.
"My cake is done!" I squealed before grabbing the oven mitts.
"Can you at least save us a slice?" Jorja pouted.
"I made two!"
I removed the cakes from the oven before closing the door. Suddenly the lights turned off and we all gasped.
"Fuck." Lola sighed.
"Who's turn was it to pay the bill?" Pierce questioned.
"It was me." I sighed. "Sorry I've just been so swamped and it totally slipped my mind."
"Luna, you have to remember these things. I have an audition tomorrow and I need to do this character analysis." Lola shook her head.
"I know. I know. I'm sorry. Look, I can run to the landlord's office while the cakes cool!" I sighed.
"I'll go. You figure out how you can change that outfit before you go to his house." Pierce stood up while grabbing the glass jar labeled "rent".
"What's wrong with my outfit?" I frowned.
"You have flour and vanilla stains. That's so not presentable, Lulu. Especially with an asshole like him" Jorja sighed.
"Oh shit. You're right. Okay, can you help me change?" I questioned.
"Let's go."

I tightly held the covered tray in my hand as I waited outside the door. I was nervous and scared. Mostly scared. What if he yelled at me? What if he cussed me out? What could he possibly want that he randomly invited me over this morning?
I knew nothing about Luca DeSantos. I didn't know his middle name, his favorite color, or his favorite food. If he's vegan or if he likes meat. I didn't know his occupation or his hobbies. I didn't know his mom or his dad. If he had any siblings. I didn't know anything.
The only thing that I know is that we had sex and now I'm pregnant. I stepped away from the door before walking towards the large window.
It was beautiful but scary being so high in the air, looking at the busy streets of New York. This city was so filled with pain, yet it looked effortlessly beautiful in its natural state.
"You coming in or...?"
I turned around. "Luca. Sorry. I was just looking out the window."
He nodded before widening the door. I walked into the familiar penthouse. Soft jazz music was playing and it smelt like someone was cooking.
"I made a pound cake." I held it up.
"What's a pound cake?" He furrowed his eyebrows.
"It's a cake, that's a pound? I don't know, it's just something we make back home. I didn't want to come empty-handed." I nervously said.
He nodded. "Yo! Enid!"
The woman with glasses walked in. "Yes?"
"Take this cake."
She nodded before grabbing it from my hands and dispersing in the kitchen. Luca walked into the kitchen, and I followed him.
He sat down in his seat. I awkwardly stood.
"You can sit if you want."
"I understand if you want a paternity test." I sat down in the seat.
"Nah. The math checks out." He sighed. "Plus I had Enid search for a condom and nothing showed."
"Okay. So, is there a reason why you invited me over? Some kind of plan do you have? Like co-parenting or going to doctor visits."
"Look. I'll send you five hundred a month until you have the baby. Then when it comes, I'll increase that price, and pay for rent, and nannies. I just don't plan on being in the picture like that." He shrugged. "Sounds good, Luna?"
I rolled my eyes.
"Oh! And for doctor visits, just send my assistant an invoice, and I'll text you her info."
"So, basically I have to take full responsibility for something we both created?"
"I'm giving you money. I'll visit it here and there. It can know that I'm its father."
"Wow. Okay." I cleared my throat.
Enid, which I'm assuming was his assistant, set our plates in front of us.
"I'll bring your cake out when dinner is finished." She said before walking away.
"Do you plan on telling your parents or something?"
He shook his head. "Nah. I don't have parents. My brother knows, my sister is another story."
"Jordan."
"You know him?"
"He's dating my friend Pierce."
"Small world."
"Very small."
It was an awkward silence. Man, I wish I could just melt away in the seat. He was so hot. I'll probably say that a million more times.
"Well, if you change your mind, not saying that you have to. Um, just in case, you know. Like if you, um, wanted to see the baby or anything. I have a doctor's appointment on Wednesday at seven in the morning. Mothers Beyond is the name of the practice, but that's if you want to. No pressure. Okay, I'm going to stop rambling."
He nodded while still pushing around his food. I took the chance to fully analyze him. I noticed a long scar running up his arm but disappearing into his shirt. I wonder what happened.

"So it sounds like he's still confused about the situation." Jorja shook her head. "Does he want to be in the life or not?"
"Who cares. As long as he is providing the funds, we're okay." Lola said while filing her nails.
"I care," I mumbled. "I don't want my baby to come
out thinking their father didn't give a shit about them.""He doesn't." Lola stood up.
"He mentioned not having parents. Isn't that strange?" I questioned while playing with my hair.
"Hm." Jorja grabbed her phone. "Let's do some research."
She typed away on her phone, and all we heard was the clicking of her nails tapping against the screen. She paused for a moment and a shocked expression spread across her face. She held her hand to her mouth.
"Oh, my God." She shook her head.
"What is it, Jo?" Lola questioned while looking at the screen. Lola paused to read it. "Oh my, that's incredibly sad."
"What is it?" I questioned.
"It says his parents passed away in a car accident fifteen years ago." Lola read off the screen. "He and his brother who also did not make it was in the car. Lord bless his heart. Him and Jordan."
"That's heartbreaking."
