"THE FIRST YEAR STAGE... THE STUDENTS ARE COMING OUT!!"

The light at the end of the short tunnel would inevitably bring about their future. Whatever resulted of the day would forever be remembered as the students' debut into hero society. This lasting imprint meant everything.

But what kind of impression did Y/n want to make?

They never settled on one idea for their future. While they were aiming for a hero license, that was only so they could use their Quirk legally. When it came to being a real hero, could they pull it off? When it would be time to face Hitomi again, what would they do?

"FIRST UP... YOU KNOW WHO I'M TALKING ABOUT!! THE MIRACULOUS RISING STARS WHO BRUSHED OFF A VILLAIN ATTACK WITH THEIR STEELY WILLPOWER!! THE FIRST YEARS OF THE HERO COURSE..."

It was easy to walk into the light. It was just one step after the other, and the cheering echoed throughout the stadium.

"ITS CLASS A!!"

Looking around at the packed seating, Y/n bit their tongue. There were so many people that expected both entertainment and power to be demonstrated by the group of fifteen year olds. If only they knew what the class had been through. If only they had witnessed it. If only they had experienced it. Would they still be cheering?

"They're really giving us too much credit," Kirishima said from beside Y/n. "But we wont let it shake us, right, Bakugou?"

The boy continued his usual slouched saunter. "Nope. Just gets me pumped up," he grinned, a shadow looming over his eyes.

The rest of the classes were listed off with lackluster introductions courtesy of Present Mic. It made Y/n think again about the purple haired boy who claimed to replace them. He said they wouldn't be a hero, just like they had said to Bakugou. Just like how everyone in middle school had said they would never be anything. How could they say they were better than back then if they started spewing the same things said to them?

Y/n was still the same pathetic kid stuck in a corner who believed fighting was the only way out. Today, they were going to have to try harder to be different. The world was watching, and one of the viewers had to be a part of Y/n's troubled past. They were going to show them how hard they are working to be better.

The crack of a whip silenced the large crowd. A woman standing at the center of a stage with one hand on her hip and her other holding the whip loudly declared the beginning of the festival. "Now for the athletes oath!!" the R-Rated hero, Midnight said.

Murmurs between the students surrounded Y/n, but they couldn't hear anything over the sight of the woman's costume.

"PIPE DOWN! Your student representative is Bakugou Katsuki from class A!!" she said, pointing her tasselled whip in his direction.

He silently walked through the crowd, for once ignoring all the comments made around him. It was eerie to see him so calm as he took careful steps up the stage. Standing in front of the microphone, his expression remained blank as he began speaking, "The athletes oath... Make no mistake about it. I'm gonna take first place!"

The feedback was immediate. Once again, he had turned his entire year against him with a few words.

He used his thumb to motion slicing his neck. "You'll make great stepping stones."
