---Homeroom, Nabu Middle School---
The teacher was talking and most students listened. Although it wasn't that close to the end of the year, it was time for the third year middle school students to figure out which high school they wanted to apply for. As he handed the paper out to the students he continued explaining, "I expect to have these papers filled out with your top high school and two back-ups by the end of the day. You should already have an idea of your career path and what high school you should help you pursue that path."

Once every student had a sheet of the paper, the teacher returned to the front of the classroom, letting the students have time to fill out their papers. The classroom was silent save for the usual chatter of students, but none of it surrounded Y/n. The other students tended to avoid those that seemed dangerous. While three of their classmates fell under that category, one was admired, leaving the other two in the shadows.

Y/n stared at their paper, fiddling with their uniform sleeve.

"What high school will you go to, N/n?" Hitomi asked, resting Her elbows on Y/n's desk as She rested Her head in Her hands.

Y/n looked up at Her, then glanced at the boy standing beside Her. She was sitting at his desk while he idly stood by. "You really can get away with anything, huh?"

Hitomi grinned, slightly proud of Y/n's statement. "What do you mean?" She innocently asked, wanting to hear more of Y/n admitting Her power.

"Hitomi. You don't sit anywhere near me. Let the poor kid have his desk back."

Grinning even wider, Hitomi leaned back, resting an arm on the desk behind Her and twirling Her long hair, "You always know just what to say, N/n."

"We're in public. No reason to get so hot and bothered," Y/n deadpanned, looking back down at their paper.

Letting out a dry chuckle, She leaned forward a little, "My, how your sense of humor has changed."

"Stop talking like you know me, Hitomi."

Her flirty arua dissapeared. For a second, something surrounded the two that sent shivers through Y/n. Bringing their head back up, they met eyes with a normally smiling Hitomi. Believing that they were merely cold for a second, they rested their head on their hand and returned to staring at the paper that decided their future.

"I don't know if I tell you this enough, N/n," Hitomi said, Her voice suddenly sickeningly sweet, "but I really like you. You're just so funny with how you react to everything."

Y/n was used to her random lies about their friendship, but they felt odd about this spontaneous confession.

Standing up, Hitomi waved at the boy, whose desk She stole, then walked away, not sparing Y/n another glance. Wanting to ignore that strange conversation, and Hitomi's odd persistence over the past few days, Y/n turned back to their paper.

"What high school do I want to go to...?" they whispered, thinking about this decision for the first time.

---Lunchtime, Nabu Middle School---
Walking through the halls, Y/n made their way to the lunchroom. Alone. The loneliness wasn't surprising, but it was still an uncomfortable factor in their day-to-day life.

A small whimper.

The sound drew Y/n out of their routine walk. Quickly, they went to find the source. They were led to a fairly empty hallway. Empty, all except for some group of three, and one second year on the ground.
