If It Happens (Wenclair)

Enid's POV

I barely remembered Wednesday coming to me the day I had our baby but when I woke up there was my wife holding onto me with her body turned to our child.

The painkillers had worked miracles and a nurse came in giving my sleeping wife a look but shook her head and brought in my tray of food. "You know you really shouldn't have anyone in the bed with you, it's safer that way."

Wednesday shifted in her sleep but didn't wake up. "She couldn't hurt me even if she tried. Thank you for the breakfast though. How's our girl doing?" I asked looking at her.

"We came in earlier this morning and at night while you two were asleep and everything is just fine Mrs.Addamsinclair. We have to get her birth certificate going today so you better settle on a name."

She gave me a wink and before heading out the door she said "by the way we had a look into her blood tests and she's got wolf in her just like her momma. Probably why both of you are holding out so strong."

"A doctor will come by later to explain what happened fully but all you need to know is both of you are healthy as can be and you need to eat your breakfast."

As soon as she left I saw Wednesday's hand slip out and grab a piece of fruit from my plate. "So I have two wolves to deal with every month during a full moon huh?" She said with a snorting laugh.

"Good morning to you too sunshine." It was a nickname I used sparingly but it was one she secretly liked and gave her a little confidence in her step.

"How are you feeling?" She asked and sat up a bit looking at our daughter. "Much better now that you're here and knowing everything is fine. So are you still settled on our name choice now that you've seen her?"

She gave me a kiss on the cheek and spoon fed me my hospital eggs. "Oh it's beautiful just like her" she said and dabbed my lips with a napkin. "I can feed myself" I said with a full mouth.

"Right I forgot you fell in love with the old Wednesday who wasn't affectionate" she joked and made her face blank to tease me.

"No keep feeding me I change my mind. You can't say no I just gave birth" I begged and gave her my sweetest puppy dog eyes. She stole some of my eggs and a sausage off of my plate. "Don't worry I'll get you whatever food you want I just feel like I'm gonna barf because I haven't eaten in 24 hours."

A doctor came in with my records on a clipboard and swooped himself onto the rolling chair. "Enid and wife I presume?" He asked. Wednesday gave him a thumbs up.

"Alright well all your test results seem fine but we do need to keep uh.. unnamed baby here for a week or so to monitor her. Got a name picked out yet?"

I started to say "yes it's-" but he cut me off and said "I'll send the person who does the birth certificate stuff after I'm done here. So pretty much what happened yesterday was the baby's own doing."

Wednesday gave him a questioning look already offended that he suggested her daughter did anything wrong.

"She must be pretty strong and in tune with her abilities because she managed to whip out her wolf claws and tear your uterus and decide to be born. Unfortunately this means you cannot have any more children" he said solemnly.

Wednesday looked at me with concern and sadness and whispered a soft "I'm so sorry my love" while I choked on my tears.

"Thank you" I said quietly while he gave me a single nod and left the room. "I'm sorry Weds" I started to say but she embraced me tightly and said "it's not your fault and don't you worry Enid we are going to love our girl and focus on that right now."

Regardless some silent years flowed down my cheeks as we held each other.

Wednesday's POV

I wasn't worried about having another kid right now I just couldn't bear to see the love of my life have to grieve after creating such a beautiful life form.

"It's sad but I was going to say anyway that if we have another kid you're carrying it" she said laughing and wiped her tears away.

My eyes widened and I couldn't fathom the thought of being pregnant now. "We will talk about that later but right now let's get my mother to buy you some food and deliver the news to everyone."

As I was in the middle of making calls we filled out the paperwork to legally declare the name of our baby and give our information to be on the certificate.

My parents came in with the takeout food and handed it to me before staring at their grandchild in awe. "She's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen" my mother said with a wobbly voice and bent down to clasp her hands around Enid's and hold it up to her forehead like she was praying.

My parents huddled around us for a minute just taking all of this in. Then my mother grabbed a smudge stick of some sort and lit it on fire to purify our kid.

"Whoa you can't do that in here" I said trying to grab her. "Oh hush I'm blessing our granddaughter through our ancestors' spirits I'll be done in 2 seconds."

I groaned but leaned back and handed Enid her food which she ate rather quickly. My father didn't look up from her clear box and said "so who is our granddaughter?"

Enid spoke up with pride and said
"October Addamsinclair."
