"Apologies, Sheriff." Weems said after she stepped into the Weathervane, "This one slipped away from me. Come on, Miss Addams, time to go, come join your sister."

Wednesday's eyes widened as she realised that she couldn't escape, and she glanced at the Sheriff, before walking over towards Weems and Iris.

"Wait a minute, hang on." the Sheriff said, "You're both Addams'? Don't tell me Gomez Addams is your father?" Wednesday nodded a little, and Iris could feel her anxiety spiking, and it didn't help that she had just had an argument with Wednesday, "That man belongs behind bars for murder. Guessin' the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. I'm gonna keep my eye on you two."

"Okay." Weems said, clearly done with the situation, placing a hand on Wednesday's shoulder and leading her out of the café.

"Your first day and you're already on Sheriff Galpin's radar." Weems told her as they drove back to the school, "Wish I could say I was surprised."

"What did he mean about my father?" Wednesday asked, recalling what Galpin had said earlier.

"I have no idea, but a word of advice. Stop making enemies and start making a few friends." Weems said, dodging the question, "You're going to need them."

They drovd past a car wreck, a truck and another cad having totaled on one side of the road. "Looks like an accident." Weems noted, "I hope the driver's okay."

"He's dead. Broke his neck." Wednesday replied before they had even had even got in the vicinity of the crash.

"How can you tell from this angle?" Weems asked.

Sure enough, as Weems slowed down wjen they drove past, there was the driver, his neck broken at an unnatural angle.

Wednesday lifted the necklace her mother had given her, fiddling with it as Weems glanced at her uncertainly, Iris gazing out the window, an anxiety-filled pit in her stomach that she couldn't get to go away.

Back in the dorms, Wednesday took her cello out to the balcony to try and practice, Iris trying to read her book peacefully, and Enid walking in the room a few seconds later.

She knew Wednesday was just doing it to annoy her, and it was working.

She could hear Wednesday talking to someone, probably Thing, and Enid took Iris' hand, dragging her to the balcony.

"How the hell did you get that oversized violin out the window?" Enid asked once they had walked out the window safely.

"I had an extra hand." Wednesday said, and Enid finally noticed Thing, who was perched on top of the music sheets. He waved to Enid, who pulled a face.

"Whoa." Enid said, "Where's the rest of him?"

"It's one of the great Addams famiky mysteries. My favourite, personally." Iris said, resting her forearms on the balcony.

Thing hopped down, crawling across the floor of the balcony, and Enid took as step back as he passed her. Suddenly, some Furs started howling in the distance.

"Why aren't you wolfing out?" Wednesday asked, noticing how awkward Enid was.

"Because I can't." The blonde replied. She flicked up her nails, "That's all I got." She flicked them back down, pulling the coffs of her sleeves over her hands, walking over to stand beside Iris.

"My mom says some wolves are late bloomers, but I've been to the best Lycanologist. I had to fly to Milwaukee, would you believe it?" She rested her head on Iris' shoudler, who tensed up at the sudden contact, before relaxing, "Yeah, she says there's a chance I may never... you know."

"What happens then?" Wednesday asked, approaching them. She sounded genuinely concerned, somehing which confused Iris greatly.

"I'd become a lone wolf."

"Sounds perfect."

"Weds, that's not helpful." Iris scolded.

"My life would be officially over. I'd be kicked out of my family pack with no prospect of finding a mate."

"I'm failing to see the problem here."

"I could die alone!" Enid cried, lufting her head up to glare at Wednesday, tears in her eyes.

"We all die alone, Enid."

"You really suck at this. Cheering people up." She leant forward then, the tears finally falling.

"Why are you crying?" Wednesday asked.

"Because I'm upset!" Enid cried again, "Haven't you ever cried or are you above that too?"

"The one thing Wednesday loves more than herself is controlling others." Iris scoffed, and Wednesday looked at her then, finally seeing that she ahd really hurt her sister.

"It was the week after Halloween." Wednesday began, and Iris smiled softly, remembering who she was about to talk about, "I was six years old. Me and Iris took out pet scorpion, Nero, out for his afternoon stroll, and we were ambushed. They wondered what kind of freaks would have a scorpion for a pet.

"Two of them held us down and made us watch while the others ran Nero over until..."

Iris could remember the day the buried Nero. It was snowing when they buried him, and Wednesday had placed a black Dahlia on his grave.

"I cried my little black heart out. But tears don't fix anything. So I vowed to never do it again." Wednesday finished, and Iris snapped out of gaze, finally realizing that Enid had taken her hand gently, and Iris pulled it back quickly. She could accept hugs, heads on shoulders from Enid, but not hand-holding.

Hand-holding was for couples, and they weren't a couple.

"Your secrets safe with me." Enid assured her, "I still think youre both weird as shit, though."

"The feeling is incredibly mutual."

"How would you like your double room back?" Wednesday asked.

Iris turned to her, realising that she wasn't included in the running away part this time. She felt grateful that Wednesday finally realised that she needed to back off of her and let her make her own decisions. Enid turned to Wednesday, suddenly very interested.

"You just need to show me how to use your computer."
