"Are you sure you can trust the normie?" Enid asked. They were at the Harvest Festival, and the sound of people screaming surrounded them at all sides, something made Wednesday feel at ease. They were staring at Tyler, who was arguing with his Dad about something.
"I trust that I can handle myself." Wednesday replied dryly. At least she wasn't trying to force Iris to go with her this time.
"Well," Enid said, turning to face Wednesday, "Good luck, and safe travels." She went to hug Wednesday, and the goth took a step back, yet again, "Still not a hugger. Got it."
The blonde then walked off, leaving the Addams sisters by themselves. There was a few beats of silence, before Iris broke the silence.
"I'll miss you." She said, although there was a small smile on her face, so Wednesday didn't know whether she was lying or not.
"You'll be fine, although you'll probably become friends with that blonde who is obsessed with hugging people." Wednesday replied, ever the one for niceties. Iris smiled, "I will miss you too, though. I will write. No return address, of course. I can't have Mother tracking me down."
Iris laughed, and looked at Wednesday. She wouldn't hug her, she wasn't in a hug-your-sister mood today, so she just smiled at her, before walking off to find Enid, who was presumably trying to win some tacky colourful prize.
"You're really bad at this, you know that, right?" Iris told her as she approached the stall that Enid was standing at. It was the one where you had to throw the rings onto the poles, and if you got them all on at least one, you won some colourful animal.
"I swear to god, it's rigged!" Enid cried as picked up the rings to try again. Iris laughed, and took them off her, throwing them, getting them all on at least on pole, some doubling up.
"How the hell did you do that?" Enid demanded as the person at the stall handed her her prize, which Iris immediately handed to the blonde next to her.
"Well, I am very competitive with my brother back home." Iris told her.
"Makes sense. Do you want to go on the ferris wheel?" Enid asked.
"Sure, what the hell." Iris agreed, shrugging her shoulders. The two began to make their way towards the ferris wheel, paying for their tickets and eventually climbing into one of the carriages next to each other.
"Okay, is this a bad time to say I'm afraid of heights?" Enid said as they began to make their way up.
"Why would you ask to go on the ferris wheel if you're afraid of heights?" Iris laughed. She hadn't felt this happy in a long time, especially not at her last school.
"Because! It's fun!" Enid reasoned, and she then buried her face in the stuffed animal as they stopped at the top to let other people on at the bottom.
On their second time round, fireworks began to go off, and Enid looked up. "Oh, my God, it's so pretty!" She cried. She moved closer to the edge to get a better look, momentarily forgetting about her fear, although she did shuffle backwards, leaning against Iris as she remembered.
"This is so high up." Enid whispered.
"Yeah, that's the whole point, Enid."
"Do they have to keep stopping us at the top?" Enid groaned as they stopped again.
"Well, it's our last turn round, we're getting off as soon as we reach the bottom." Iris said, although she caught sight of Wednesday chasing someone into the woods as they began to descend.
"You OK?" Enid asked as they got off. Her legs felt a bit wobbly, so she grabbed onto Iris' arm to stable herself, letting once she felt OK to walk.
"Yeah, I'll just be one second. Meet you at the churro stand in half an hour?" Iris said, beginning to walk backwards. Enid nodded, walking off to find Yoko.
Iris paused halfway to the woods, focusing on turning herself invisible, and, when she looked down, saw that she had succeeded, and began to continue her brisk walk towards the woods.
"I have to kill you." Is what Iris heard the boy say as she snuck behind a tree, trying to be as quiet as possible.
"The gargoyle. That was you?" Wednesday's voice said. She sounded higher up, like she was in a tree or something, Iris thought.
"Yeah."
"It's always the quiet ones." Wednesday said, and there was the sound of paper rustling, and Iris peered around the tree to see a piece of paper floating in front of Wednesday. Her sister was pined against a tree by some magical force, presumably by the boy as he was holding his hand in front of him.
"Girl in the picture that's you." The boy continued, and Wednesday's face morphed into one of horror.
"You want to kill me because of some picture?" Wednesday said and she sounded truly angry.
"My mother drew that picture 25 years ago when she was a student here at Nevermore. She was a powerful Seer. Told me about it before she died. There's one of your sister, too, although I suppose I could just kill her now."
He lifted his other hand, and Iris felt the invisibility sipping away as something squeezed at her throat, stopping the air from entering her lungs.
"Rowan, put me down, and stop hurting Iris before I kill you." Wednesday pleaded.
"No! My mother said it was my destiny to stop these girls if they ever came to Nevermore, because they will destroy the school and everyone in it." The boy, Rowan, argued. Iris' vision had now gotten blurry, and the edges of her vision were going black. She was on her knees, the effort of standing too much.
Rowan surged his magic on Wednesday, and she choked out his name, trying to plead with him to stop. There was the cracking of a branch, and Rowan glanced to the side, and suddenly a monster came out of nowhere, attacking Rowan, and Wednesday fell to the ground, crawling over to her sister, who could finally breathe.
Rowan screamed as the creature tore into his body again and again. The monster turned to face the sisters, before running away, and Wednesday crawled over to Rowan. The photo of Wednesday fluttered down from the sky, landing on Rowan's dead body. Wednesday picked it up, and made her way back over to Iris, pulling her into a tight hug.
"I'm sorry, I'm so, so sorry..." She whispered over and over again.

Back at the room, Iris fell asleep almost straight away, collapsing on Enid's bed as she waited for her to come home to apologise about not meeting with her, and Wednesday sat at her desk, looking over her dad's case file and staring at the photo that Rowan had, when her parents called from the crystal ball.
"Hello, my little black cloud! Where is Iris?" Gomez greeted.
"Sleeping." Wednesday replied dryly.
"How was your first week?" Morticia asked.
"As much as it pains me to admit, you were right, Mother.I think I'm going to love it here."
