UNEXPECTEDLY (Privileged series #1)

After all the tension earlier, Alexis was eating happily as if the thing earlier didn't happen. He was stuffing his mouth on the dessert that is laid infront of him.

Umalis na din si Kian, mukhang tapos na yung shift nya. He had a grumpy look on his face as he stormed out of the cafe. It was cute and a bit intimidating since it's my first time seeing him that way.

I look at the guy who gave Kian so much negative energy. He looks carefree and happy. Nang mapansin nyang nakatingin ako sakanya ay linunok nya yung pagkaing nginunguya bago nagsalita.

"Do you know what I like the most in this world?" He ask out of nowhere.

"Food?" I answer.

"That's one thing." He drink in his coffee bago ulit nagsalita. "What I like the most was seeing people annoyed."

Huh???

"And I love it more if i'm the cause of that. You know, their anger directed to me? It makes me happy."

What in the actual hell???

"You had weird hobbies if you relish on people's annoyance." I took a sip in my coffee before speaking again. "I think it's stupid."

"I won't take offense on that." He said and stuff some food in his mouth while he has that annoying smirk plastered on his face. "Though when your saying it, it irks me for some reason."

I just shrug it off as I took out the folder in my bag and placed it infront of him. Natigilan sya sa pagkain at tinignan yung folder. "Straight forward, eh? But I don't hate it."

He put his spoon down and wipe his mouth before picking the folder uo.

"What's the thing you want me to investigate anyway? All you said on the phone was that you had a job for me." Tumingin sya sa akin, bakit hindi nalang nya tignan?

Binuksan na nya yung folder habang nagsasalita. His eyes moves across the contents of the folder. "Your father's past lover? Nicole? Why would you want to know that? And you want to know what happen after your mother gave birth to you? So technically, you want to know these three peoples past?"

I didn't say anything as he flip through the pages. Napa 'Ohh..!' naman sya when he got to a certain page as if that's all he needed to know what kind of job is he getting at.

"What you want isn't their past but you're origin?" His gaze shifted on me before stuffing a few bites in his mouth.

"Both actually." I lean on the chair I was sitting at.

"Why don't you just ask them? Do you think your adopted or something?" He ask and put the folder aside.

"Ang gusto ko lang malaman sayo is kung tatanggapin mo ba yung trabaho o hindi? I don't need your side questions or comments." I cross my arms as I look at him with a guarded expression.

"It's either you don't want to ask or they have no intention of telling you." He pause and look at me. "But the real question here is, why do you have such thoughts?" Nagpatuloy syang magsalita na parang hindi narinig yung sinabi ko.

I won't deny it, he struck a nerve. But i'm not having thoughts, all I need is confirmation. Confirmation na malaman kung tama ba yung mga possibilities na pumasok sa isip ko.

Napa buntunghininga ako bago sya tinignan nang seryoso.

"Alexis, all you have to say is either a yes or no, will you accept or not? I will pay you whatever amount you want me to pay pero hindi ibig sabihin non ay makikialam ka sa buhay ko." I pause for a moment gauging his expressions as he listen to me talk in a tone that warns him. "Whatever information you acquired while doing this job, you will take it to your grave. Your job is to investigate, hindi makialam."
