fragments of fragile heart part:10

Start from the beginning

Junghwon nodded with a pout, while
Jungkook’s heart sank. He hadn’t done anything wrong, yet once again, he was expected to apologize. He clenched his fists under the table, frustration bubbling inside 'Why is it always me? Why am I the one who has to apologize, even when I’m not at fault?'

Jimin turned to him, pleading. “Kookie, just say sorry. Junghwon was only worried about you. That’s why he kept asking questions.”

Jungkook’s chest tightened. His voice was quiet but firm. “I won’t say sorry. It’s not my fault.”

The group fell silent

Jimin blinked, taken aback. “Kookie, he’s just worried about you. That’s why—”

Taehyung immediately stepped in his voice steady.  “Jimin, why should Kookie apologize? Jungkook’s right. He doesn’t need to apologize. He was frustrated, not wrong. Let’s just drop the topic.”

Junghwon stared at Taehyung with an unreadable expression, his mind racing. He had hoped to play the victim and further alienate Jungkook, but Taehyung’s unwavering defense of Jungkook irritated him.

Jin tried to mediate. “Let’s not argue over this. Kookie, just say sorry to end this. It’s not a big deal.”

But then Jimin spoke again. “Kookie, just apologize. It’ll make things easier for everyone.

Yoongi, ever adore to Jungkook, sided with Taehyung. “Why should he apologize when it’s not his fault?”

Namjoon finally intervened. “Enough. Let’s leave the topic. We’re here to enjoy, not argue.”

Junghwon’s eyes flickered with emotion as he stared at Taehyung. Jin, trying to mediate, spoke gently. “Let’s not argue over this, guys. It’s not worth it.”

Namjoon nodded. “Let’s move on. We’re here to relax, not fight.”

Jungkook glanced at Taehyung, who was still defending him. Despite everything, Taehyung always believed in him. It warmed Jungkook’s heart, and felt a flicker of warmth amidst his pain. Yet deep inside, his fragile heart ached.

Jungkook couldn’t take it anymore. Jungkook sighed deeply. His heart felt heavy, his mind racing with thoughts of his parents, who never gave him the chance to defend himself. He thought of all the times he’d apologized for things that weren’t his fault.

And now, here he was, about to do it again.

With a deep breath, Jungkook spoke, his voice strained. “Fine. I’m sorry, Junghwon.”

The words felt heavy on his tongue, bitter and undeserved. Why do I always have to apologize, even when it’s not my fault? Jungkook thought, his heart aching

Taehyung stared at him in disbelief, his chest tightening. He knew Jungkook hated apologizing for things that weren’t his fault, and seeing him do it now hurt deeply.

Junghwon smiled smugly through his fake tears. " It's okay Kookie-hyung.”

Jungkook, however, forced a small smile and excused himself. No one noticed the bitter chuckle he let out as he walked away—except for Taehyung and Junghwon.

As Jungkook left, Taehyung’s frustration boiled over. He turned on Jimin and Jin, his voice sharp. “Why do you always make him say sorry when it’s not his fault? Why don’t any of you defend him?”

Yoongi, siding with Jungkook as always, joined in. “You don’t understand how much this hurts him,” he said, his tone calm but firm.

Jin and Jimin tried to explain, but Taehyung cut them off. “Enough! Stop putting this on him,” he snapped, glaring at Junghwon.

With that, Taehyung stormed out, leaving the group in stunned silence.

Later that night, Jungkook lay on his bed, staring at the ceiling. The events of the day played over and over in his mind. The shouting, the forced apology—it all weighed heavily on him.

The memory of his outburst haunted him. His hyungs had never seen him lose control like that. Would they see him differently now? Would they be disappointed in him like other?

And then there was his job. Jungkook had taken leave without notifying his boss. What if he lost the job? How would he manage his expenses? He thought of Taehyung, who always defended him, and yet, Jungkook still felt miles away from him

What’s wrong with me? Why can’t I handle any thing better why I am disappoint everyone?

He felt like he was suffocating. His job, his friends, his family—everything seemed to weigh on him.

The overwhelming weight of his worries pressed down on him. Closing his eyes, he tried to escape into the one place that brought him solace—his dreams.

In his dreams, there were no harsh words, no misunderstandings.  no expectations, no pain. He lay in theThere was only peace. He lay in the arms of taehyung who held him tenderly, their warmth shielding him from the world’s cruelty. A quiet world where he rested safely in Taehyung’s arms, his heart no longer burdened.

But reality always found its way back.
