Jungkook's heart skipped a beat, and his breath hitched. He tried to keep his tone neutral. "Oh? What's he planning?"
"I don't know," Taehyung replied, his eyes lighting up with a hint of excitement. "But he said it's a surprise. I think it's his way of trying to show me how much he cares. It's kind of sweet, right?"
Jungkook forced a smile, but inside, it felt like the world was crashing down around him. He nodded, his voice barely audible. "Yeah, it's sweet."
They continued walking, but the weight of Taehyung's words lingered in the air, suffocating Jungkook with every step.
---
The rest of the evening passed in a blur. Jungkook's mind was elsewhere, clouded by thoughts of Junghwon and the growing distance between him and Taehyung. He tried to focus on their conversation, but every time Taehyung mentioned Junghwon, it was like a dagger to his chest.
As they finally exited the museum, Taehyung turned to him, smiling brightly.
"Thanks for coming, Kookie. I had a good time," he said.
Jungkook forced a smile, though his heart felt like it was breaking. "Yeah, me too. It was nice."
They stood there for a moment, the silence between them growing heavy.
"You know," Taehyung said softly, "I've been thinking a lot about everything lately. About Junghwon.. I think I'm really starting to like him."
Jungkook's stomach dropped. His worst fear was coming to life.
"I understand, hyung," Jungkook said quietly, his voice barely above a whisper. "I really do."
Taehyung's eyes softened, and he placed a hand on Jungkook's shoulder. "You're still my best friend, Kookie. Nothing is going to change that."
But as Jungkook nodded and walked away, his heart felt like it was shattering into a million pieces. The truth was, he had been lying to himself for so long. He had hoped, for the longest time, that things could be different-that Taehyung could feel the same way. But as the distance between them grew, Jungkook couldn't escape the truth any longer.
Taehyung had never seen him as anything more than a friend. And Jungkook was slowly learning that sometimes, the hardest thing wasn't letting go-it was learning to accept that letting go was the only way forward.

The group was sitting together at the campus café, enjoying their usual chatter and occasional bickering. Junghwon, as always, made sure to dominate the conversation, throwing subtle jabs at Jungkook that no one but Jungkook seemed to notice.playfullyJungkook was back, teasing his friends, making jokes, and cracking up at their silly antics.
Yah, Jungkook !" Jimin called out, tossing a piece of bread at him from across the table. "You come late today. Did you stay up all night playing video games or something?"
Jungkook laughed loudly, catching the bread and tossing it back. "Nah, hyung. I was busy... thinking about all the embarrassing things you've done in your life," he teased, grinning widely.
His friends burst into laughter, but deep inside, Jungkook felt a sharp pang in his chest. He was good at hiding his emotions, but the weight of it all-his parents, Junghwon's manipulations, Taehyung's growing closeness with Junghwon-it was taking a toll on him. Still, he kept laughing, joking, and pretending everything was fine.
When they are talking the café door opened, and a familiar voice called out.
"Kookie!"
Jungkook looked up and instantly smiled. "Eunwoo?
