Khalid sat at his desk, his hands trembling as he flipped through the papers in front of him.

His mind raced, his thoughts consumed with the pressure mounting around him.

The investors, once eager to put their trust in him, were now backing out one by one.

The weight of impending bankruptcy crushed him.

There was no one left to turn to-except Salim.

In desperation, Khalid drove to Salim's house, his face a picture of frustration.

As he entered, Salim, who had been sitting in the drawing room, looked up but didn't immediately stand.

"Salim," Khalid said, his voice strained. "Itne saalon ki dosti hai hamari. Salim, isse aise hi mat todo."

("Salim, We have been friends for so many years. Salim, don't end it like this.")

Salim regarded him with a mixture of disdain and indifference.

He had been through too much with Khalid to show any sympathy. "Jaanta hoon, Khalid," he said coldly. "Lekin tumhare bete ne jo kiya hai, woh na kaabile bardaasht hai."

("I know, Khalid, But what your son has done is intolerable.")

Khalid's fists clenched.

He knew exactly what Salim was talking about-the rivalry between Asad and Khalid had torn their once-solid friendship apart.

But Khalid was too desperate to care about the past. "I know, Salim," he said, his voice almost pleading. "Ek kaam karte hain, Maya ka nikah Ayaan se kar dete hain."

("I know, Salim. Let's do one thing, let's arrange Maya's marriage to Ayaan.")

Salim's eyes darkened, and he shook his head. "Meri beti ko cricket ball nahi hai, Khalid, ki agar ek ne mana kar diya toh dusre se kar lo. Aur vaise bhi, mujhe Ayaan pasand nahi."

("My daughter is not a cricket ball, Khalid, that if one rejects, you can just go to the other. And anyway, I don't like Ayaan.")

Khalid didn't back down. "Salim, Ayaan dil ka bura nahi hai. Aur kya pata, nikah ke baad sudhar jaaye."

("Salim, Ayaan is not a bad person at heart. And who knows, he might change after the marriage.")

Salim scoffed, leaning back in his chair. "Tumhara khoon hai usmein. Jaise tum nahi sudhre, woh kya khaak sudhrega?"

("It's your blood in him. Just like you never changed, how will he ever change?")

Khalid's chest tightened at Salim's words.

He knew Salim was referring to his own failures-his affairs, his neglect of his wife,

Amal.

Salim knew everything, especially about his relationship with Shaziya, the gold digger who had been his downfall.

But Salim's harsh words were a slap to his pride.

Khalid closed his eyes in fury, trying to control the anger bubbling inside him.

Salim was right in a way-he had let Amal go for someone unworthy.

But that was in the past, and now he needed to think of the future.

He could feel his grip on everything slipping, and the only option left was to destroy the one person who could stop him-Asad.

Salim, observing the storm in Khalid's eyes, leaned forward, his voice low and stern. "I know, Khalid. You never valued your family. Your own gain was always the most important to you, and today, that's what has brought you to this state."
