Asad stood at the center of the stage, microphone in hand, his presence commanding the attention of the entire hall.
The murmurs faded as the crowd turned their focus on him.
Aahil and Mirhaan stood together, observing the scene unfold with composed expressions.
"Good evening, ladies and gentlemen," Asad began, his deep voice echoing through the venue. "First, I would like to extend my gratitude to all of you for being here tonight. Secondly, I would like to thank Mr. Omar Baig for becoming our new partner in this project."
Applause filled the hall, and Omar Baig looked proud, nodding at the recognition.
Meanwhile, Afreen was beginning to feel bored.
Her interest in the speeches waned, and she found solace in her favorite form of entertainment-food.
Excusing herself, she made her way towards the food counter, her eyes lighting up at the sight of the extravagant spread before her.
Mirhaan, whose gaze had subtly been following her, watched as she examined the dishes with a childlike sparkle in her eyes.
A small, involuntary smile played on his lips as he saw her excitement peak at the sight of a red velvet cheesecake.
Without hesitation, she placed two pieces on her plate and started eating with pure delight, as if she had been starved for ages.
Mirhaan suppressed a chuckle at her innocent enthusiasm but quickly shifted his attention back to the stage when Asad called Omar forward.
"Now, I would like to introduce a man who will be the new head of this project," Asad announced, his tone deliberate and firm.
Omar's confident expression faltered as he turned to Asad in shock.
Who could this person be?
Asad continued, letting the anticipation build.
"Mirhaan."
Mirhaan adjusted his suit, smoothing out the creases as he stepped forward, his movements deliberate and composed.
He stood beside Asad, locking eyes with Omar.
There was no mistaking the tension in the air.
"Everyone, meet Mirhaan Jahangir, son of the late Mr. Rahim Jahangir, the great businessman."
The moment Rahim Jahangir's name was spoken, the color drained from Omar's face.
His confident demeanor crumbled as fear, shock, and an array of indescribable emotions consumed him.
His body stiffened, and for the first time in years, he felt truly vulnerable.
At the same time, Hassan, who had been casually listening to the announcements, was struck by the name.
His eyes widened in recognition.
It had been years since he had heard Rahim's name, but the memories came rushing back.
He had known Rahim through his brother, Omar.
Unlike Omar, Rahim had been a man of integrity, someone Hassan had deeply respected.
Rahim had taken a liking to Hassan for his simple, no-nonsense nature, while Omar had always been the kind to please people on the surface but stab them in the back when they least expected it.
Hassan turned to look at Mirhaan properly, taking in his features.
He could see the unmistakable resemblance to Rahim Jahangir.
