The doctor checked Mirhaan's vitals carefully before stepping back and addressing the worried faces around him.

"I've given him an injection. In a few hours, he will regain consciousness. His fever should subside soon," the doctor informed them.

Madiah and Afreen sighed in relief, a burden lifting from their hearts.

"Thank you, doctor," Madiah said sincerely. Afreen nodded in agreement, her hands still trembling.

Once the doctor left, Madiah placed a comforting hand on Afreen's shoulder. "He will be fine, Afreen. Don't worry."

But instead of feeling relieved, Afreen broke into sobs, her body shaking with guilt.

Alarmed, Madiah turned to her, her brows furrowed in concern.

"What happened? The doctor just said Mirhaan bhai is fine," she asked gently.

Afreen wiped her tears but couldn't control the sobs wracking her frame. "Appi, yeh sab meri wajah se hua hai."

("Appi, this all happened because of me.")

Madiah cupped her face. "Afreen, stop crying first. Tell me clearly what happened."

Afreen took a deep breath, her voice barely above a whisper. "Last night, Mirhaan came to talk to me, but I was so angry that I told him to stand outside in the rain if he really wanted a chance to speak. Believe me, Appi, I never thought he would actually do it. I had no intention of causing him any pain."

Madiah sighed, understanding the depth of Afreen's regret.

She gently wiped Afreen's tears and held her hands firmly. "Afreen, this is not your fault. Stop blaming yourself. Mirhaan bhai made that choice. What's important is that he is fine now. Forget what happened, and let's just be grateful that he's safe."

Afreen looked at Madiah with teary eyes, still struggling to let go of the guilt, but deep down, she knew Madiah was right.

For now, all that mattered was Mirhaan's recovery, and once he woke up, she needed to talk to him.

She needed answers.

A sharp headache greeted Mirhaan as his eyes fluttered open.

He winced, pressing his fingers lightly against his temple.

His gaze drifted towards the ceiling, then around the unfamiliar room-it was the guest room.

Slowly, realization dawned upon him.

He was in bed.

But why?

And then, like a cruel film reel, the events of last night flashed before his eyes.

He had gone to talk to Afreen.

She had slapped him.

She had commanded him to stand in the rain until she called him inside.

And with unwavering determination, he had obeyed.

He remembered the relentless downpour soaking him to the bone, the numbing cold seeping into his skin.

The moment when the rain had finally stopped, his body had given in-his head pounded, shivers wracked through him, and then... darkness.

Everything after that was a blank.
