William didn’t even ask. He just packed a bag, got into Est’s car, and followed him home straight from the hospital.

Est had rolled his eyes at him the entire drive, but William didn’t care.

“You don’t have to stay,” Est grumbled as he unlocked his apartment door, stepping inside with slow, careful movements. He was still exhausted, and William could see it in the way his shoulders sagged, the way he hesitated before even flicking on the lights.

William ignored him, kicking off his shoes and tossing his bag onto the couch like he’d lived there for years. “Yeah, I do.”

Est sighed, shutting the door behind him. “Will—”

“Nope,” William cut in, turning to face him with his arms crossed. “You hid your epilepsy from me for how long? And you almost had a seizure in front of thousands of people while I did nothing because I thought you were joking?” He took a step closer, his jaw set. “I’m staying.”

Est looked away, rubbing a hand over his face. “You’re overreacting.”

“Am I?” William challenged. “When’s the last time you slept for more than three hours?”

Est didn’t answer.

William took that as confirmation. He sighed, his frustration softening just a little. “Look, I’m not here to babysit you. I just…” He ran a hand through his hair. “I just want to make sure you’re okay.”

Est’s lips twitched, like he wanted to argue but was too tired to bother. Instead, he just shook his head and mumbled, “You’re annoying.”

William grinned. “I know.”

The Next Few Days

William settled into Est’s apartment like it was his own.

He made sure Est took his medication every single day.

At first, Est resisted. He tried every excuse—he wasn’t feeling sick, he didn’t need it, he’d take it later.

William didn’t buy a single one.

“If you don’t take it, I’m not leaving,” William warned on the second night, arms crossed as he leaned against the kitchen counter.

Est stared at him, half amused, half exasperated. “You weren’t leaving anyway.”

“Yeah, but now I’m staying right next to you, all night. No privacy. You want that?”

Est squinted at him. “You wouldn’t.”

William grabbed his phone. “I’ll put on a documentary about fish migration and make you watch the whole thing.”

“…That’s evil.”

“Take your meds.”

Est groaned but took the pill, grumbling under his breath.

William just smirked.

Sleeping was another battle.

Est was restless, always on his phone, always watching something, always trying to act like he wasn’t completely drained.

So William started dragging him to bed. Literally.

“Will, I swear to—” Est protested as William yanked the blanket over him.

“Shhh,” William said, turning off the lamp. “Sleep.”

“I’m not—”

“Sleep, or I’ll start humming our slowest song on repeat.”

Est narrowed his eyes. “You wouldn’t.”

William took a deep breath and started humming their latest ballad. Loudly.

Est groaned and threw a pillow over his face. “Fine! Fine! I’m sleeping!”

William grinned in victory.

But not everything was a joke.

One night, William woke up to the sound of rustling sheets.

He blinked, adjusting to the darkness, and turned toward Est’s bed.

His breath caught.

Est was shaking.

It wasn’t a full seizure—just light tremors, his body twitching slightly, his breathing uneven. His hand was clenched in the sheets.

William was beside him in an instant.

“Hey,” he whispered, gently touching Est’s shoulder. “You okay?”

Est let out a breath, blinking slowly. “Yeah… just—” His voice was weak. “Feels weird.”

William sat on the edge of the bed, rubbing slow circles on his back. He remembered what the doctor said. Sometimes, people with epilepsy had these smaller episodes—auras, muscle twitches, warning signs.

William didn’t say anything. He just stayed there, grounding him.

After a few minutes, the shaking stopped. Est exhaled, his body relaxing.

William didn’t move.

“…You really staying forever, huh?” Est murmured, voice half-asleep.

William smirked. “Looks like it.”

Est didn’t argue this time.

Instead, he just closed his eyes—and this time, he actually slept.
