It was the final event of the day—an intimate, yet highly anticipated press conference for the ongoing series ThamePo, which had quickly become a fan favorite. The stage was set with soft lighting, and rows of reporters filled the room, their cameras flashing and voices buzzing in excitement. Onstage, William Jakrapatr and Est Supha, the lead actors, sat side by side, beaming with pride. Both were dressed in elegant outfits, embodying the charm and grace that had won them the hearts of millions of fans worldwide.
The moderator, a cheerful woman in her thirties, addressed the crowd with a warm smile. “Now, let’s get into the heart of the matter. William, Est, your chemistry on screen has been widely praised. It seems like you two are very close in real life as well. How did you two form such a strong bond?”
William grinned, his youthful face lighting up. “Honestly, it’s been really easy to bond with Est. He’s one of those people who just makes you feel comfortable right away. On and off the set, he’s like a big brother to me. He’s always looking out for me, giving me advice. I think that’s what makes our friendship so special. It’s built on mutual respect, and we genuinely enjoy each other’s company.”
The reporters nodded, some jotting down notes, while others smiled warmly at the connection between the two. William continued, his voice soft and sincere. “He’s always been there when I needed someone to talk to, and I can’t thank him enough for that.”
The audience was moved by his heartfelt words, but then the moderator turned to Est. “Est, how about you? What’s your take on your friendship with William?”
Est smiled, a soft blush creeping up his neck. The 23-year-old actor was always known for his calm, cool demeanor, but there was something undeniably sincere about the way he gazed at William. He cleared his throat before speaking, the microphone picking up every word. “Well, I... I agree with everything William just said. I can’t express how grateful I am to have him by my side. He’s not just my co-star; he’s my friend, my support. It’s rare to find someone who makes work feel less like work, and with William, that’s exactly what it feels like. We push each other to be better, to... grow.”
But then, just as Est was about to continue, his voice faltered. His breath caught in his throat, and his eyes began to glisten with unshed tears. The room, sensing a shift in the atmosphere, grew quiet. Est blinked rapidly, his emotions seemingly overwhelming him.
William immediately noticed the change. His smile faltered, his expression softening with concern. Est’s hand gripped the edge of his chair, his knuckles white. He took a deep breath, trying to regain composure, but it was clear that the emotions were too much to bear.
“I—I'm sorry,” Est muttered, his voice cracking. “I’m just really... touched by what William said. I didn’t expect to get this emotional. I don’t always know how to... express how much he means to me.” His voice trailed off, and despite his best efforts, a tear slipped down his cheek.
The audience could feel the vulnerability in Est’s words, but it wasn’t just the raw emotion that made them pause—it was the way Est began to punch his thigh. Over and over again, his fist landed softly on his leg, as if he was trying to ground himself, to calm the storm inside. It wasn’t a gesture anyone had expected from the usually composed actor.
William, who had been silently watching, felt a pang of worry. He knew Est was a sensitive soul, but this habit of self-soothing had always been a bit concerning to him. Without thinking, William gently reached out and placed his hand on the small of Est’s back, his fingers warm and reassuring. The touch was tender, offering silent support, and it didn’t go unnoticed by the crowd.
Est stiffened for a moment at the contact, but then he relaxed, the comforting pressure calming him slightly. He chuckled softly, trying to mask the vulnerability with a smile. “I guess I’m not always as tough as I seem,” he said, his voice wobbly. “I’m sorry if I’m making things awkward.”
William chuckled too, his voice light yet sincere. “Don’t apologize, Est. It’s okay. We all have our moments.”
Est let out a shaky breath, his shoulders slumping as if releasing the weight of the emotions he had been holding onto. “I’m not usually like this, I swear. I just... really care about him, you know?” He glanced at William, his eyes filled with gratitude. “I’m lucky to have him.”
William’s hand remained on Est’s back, his fingers pressing gently to offer silent comfort. “We’re lucky to have each other,” he said softly, his voice full of warmth.
As Est managed to compose himself, the crowd, sensing the deep bond between the two, began to applaud softly. The atmosphere had shifted from one of tension to one of understanding and admiration.
Est finally looked up at William with a small, appreciative smile. “Thank you,” he whispered, his voice steadying. “I guess I needed that.”
William gave him a reassuring nod. “Anytime, Est. I’ve got your back.”
