("The elevator's design is very nice.")
Aaliya turned to him, raising an eyebrow. "Huh?"
Realizing what he had just said, Izaan mentally smacked himself. "I mean... how are you, Miss Akhtar?"
Aaliya smiled, amused. "You can call me Aaliya."
He nodded, his lips twitching slightly. "Okay, Aaliya."
"I'm fine, thank you. Aur aap kaise hain?" she asked politely.
("I'm fine, thank you. And how are you?")
"I'm also good," he replied.
"By the way, congratulations," she added.
He frowned slightly. "For what?"
"For becoming the captain," she clarified.
He mouthed an "Oh" and then said, "Thank you. Aapko kaise pata?"
("Thank you. How do you know?")
"Veer ne bataya," she said casually.
("Veer told me.")
At that, Izaan felt a sudden pang of jealousy.
He made a mental note to have a word with Veer later.
The elevator doors slid open, and they both stepped out into the crisp New Zealand air.
Izaan turned to her. "Aap kahin ja rahi hain?"
("Are you going somewhere?")
"Ji, bas aise hi socha thodi walk kar loon," she replied.
("Yes, I just thought I'd go for a little walk.")
"Can I join? If it's okay with you?" he asked, his voice careful.
Aaliya felt a flicker of happiness at his request. "Sure," she said with a smile.
Izaan felt a small sense of victory and gestured toward the path ahead. "After you."
She nodded and started walking, while he followed beside her, the corners of his lips curling upward just a little.

After strolling for nearly three hours, Aaliya and Izaan finally returned to the hotel.
They stood outside her door, neither wanting to break the comfortable silence that had settled between them.
Izaan glanced at her, a small smile playing on his lips.
"Good night, Aaliya," he said softly.
"Good night, Izaan," she replied, mirroring his smile before stepping inside.
Izaan stood there for a moment, waiting until he heard the door click shut.
Satisfied, he let out a whistle, his heart feeling lighter than it had in a long time.
This day had been beautiful.
Still grinning, he walked toward his room and rang the bell.
No response.
He rang it again, but the result was the same.
Annoyed, he pulled out his phone and called Kabir.
Kabir picked up almost immediately, his voice laced with amusement. "Ohh, so the Izzy Pizzy finally returned from his date?"
