"Wow, this is so easy." He sat the manual down, then paused as he caught me staring. "What?"
"You know you still give me butterflies?" I took the few steps over to him and held his face in my hands. "I'm really excited about our first Christmas together."
"Me too." His light eyes flickered between mine for just a second before I kissed him.
It was unfortunately interrupted by my phone going off on the counter. "That's probably dinner."
I went over to my phone, seeing it was in fact our dinner being dropped off and heard Awsten humming as he started putting the pieces of the tree together.
I grabbed our food from outside of the door on my welcome mat, locking the apartment back up and placed the food on the kitchen counter.
Now I saw a standing tree with all the branches sticking up. They hadn't been pushed down yet.
"Do you care if I change real quick?"
"Nah, not at all. I probably will shower after dinner too."
"Okay." I nodded and disappeared into my room. I threw my dirty clothes into my hamper, grabbing gray sweatpants and a red lace cami to change into.
I walked out of the room while stretching and laughed at Awsten who was plugging the lights we just bought into the wall.
"Well, at least one of the three work." He said, then froze to stare at men "Oh, hello."
"What?" A blush made its way up my cheeks as he closed the distance between us and pulled me against him.
"You look good in red."
"I think you look good in red too...and for the record I'm opening up to the idea of the red hair."
"Yeah?"
"Yeah." I ruffled his hair playfully, then pecked his lips before I turned to go back to the kitchen. "You want water? That's about all I have since we've been gone. I don't think the oat-milk would be very good with this."
"Water's perfect." He came in with me, opening another cabinet and got down plates. "I remember when you took me to this place on one of our first dates."
"Yeah because it's the best, and I needed you to know too I have good taste in food."
He chuckled and took our food out of the bag, then separated it out onto plates. "You definitely want sushi on Tuesday? I'll make us a reservation tonight."
"Mhm, definitely."
"Cool," Awsten came next to me as I washed my hands at the sink, kissing the side of my head. "I'll do it before we go to bed."
We ate dinner, then it was back to the tree.
I started messing with the branches and pulling them down. Awsten plugged in the other sets of lights to make sure they worked as I stood back and looked at what branches need to be adjusted.
"Fuck!" Awsten groaned a little. "We forgot a star for the top."
"We can still get one...do you think we should have gotten the tree with lights in it already?"
"No! This is good. We get to work for it now. I'm putting on Christmas music."
"Okay. Let me play it from my speakers." I walked over and turned my speaker on, then just handed him my phone. "Put on what you want."
"I'm doing the classics. I have a playlist."
"Of course you do."
Then the Christmas music filled the air, he pushed the tree towards the back of the wall next to my tv, plugging in the first set of lights.
