February 14th.
Love was dripping off the walls. Heart cut-outs on every door, glitter stuck to everyone's skin, and that one girl blasting love songs from her pink Bluetooth speaker like she was the main character in a high school musical.
Beomgyu hated it.
Not because he didn't believe in love.
But because he wasn't allowed to have it. Not openly. Not easily. Not like the others.Still, he was fine. He smiled. He joked. He teased his classmates about their crushes. He let someone draw a heart on his cheek in red marker.
But when he saw him, everything stopped.
There he was—Choi Yeonjun—standing behind the photobooth with a camera slung around his neck, laughter blooming on his face as he snapped photos for couples and best friends. He looked good. Too good. His sleeves rolled up, hair a little messy, sunlight touching his cheek like it knew where it belonged.
Beomgyu froze.
He didn't plan to confess today.
But he did want one thing.A photo.
Just one. With him. To keep. To hold onto, even if it didn't mean anything to Yeonjun. He turned to his best friend, Soobin. "Hey. Come with me. I just—I want to take a picture. With him."
Soobin blinked. "With him him?"
the Boy nodded quickly. "Please. Just—stand next to me. Pretend it's nothing."
But his best friend pulled away, eyes wide. "I can't! He's literally right there! What if he figures it out? No, nope, I can't."
So Beomgyu stood there alone, near the edge of the courtyard, watching Yeonjun snap photos of couples holding hands, giggling. He sat on the low bench near the booth, almost blending into the background. Just close enough to feel the ache.
His heart thudded in his chest. Coward. You're such as coward.
But he couldn't make his legs move. Then, a classmate walked past—one of the loud ones, the kind who always said what everyone else was thinking. She looked at him, squinting.
"Why do you look like someone just stole your dog?"
He blinked. "Huh? Nothing. I just... I kinda wanted to take a picture at the booth, that's all."
She stared at him. Then her eyes flicked to where their senior was adjusting his camera strap.
"Ohhh," she whispered. "You want to take a picture with him, don't you?"
His stomach dropped. "What? No. Shut up. What are you—"
But she wasn't listening. She cupped her hands around her mouth and shouted, "HEY! Can he, Beomgyu take a picture with you?!"
He almost died right then and there. "Are you insane?! Stop—STOP!"
But it was too late.
Yeonjun looked up. His eyes landed on the boy. He paused for a moment, then smiled. Nodded.
the boy wanted the ground to swallow him whole. But his feet were already moving, slowly, toward the booth, so was Yeonjun.
They stood awkwardly side by side. No words. Just the hum of the camera lens and the beating of two hearts.
Click.
The first photo. They stood stiff, hands by their sides. Then, without warning.. Yeonjun reached out and gently placed a hand on the boy's shoulder.
Click.
The second photo. Then, he picked a nearby flower crown from the prop table, carefully placed it on the Beomgyu head, and handed him a bouquet.
Click.
The third photo. And Beomgyu swore he stopped breathing. He stepped back quickly, cheeks burning. the older one turned to say something, but his junior was already pulling money out of his pocket and placing it on the table.
Yeonjun blinked. "Wait... you don't have to pay."
He looked genuinely confused. "Do you... want to take more? We can do another one."Beomgyu shook his head, fast. "No. No, I'm good."
And he turned around and walked away.
He didn't look back. Couldn't.
But his mind was screaming.why did he ask that? why would he want me to take more pictures? why did he try to make it free?
He didn't know the answers.
But he knew one thing for sure. His heart had just made a dangerous leap.
And now... it wasn't so secret anymore
