The final mass of the school year was today.Beomgyu stood in the backroom behind the chapel, nervously fidgeting with his necktie. He couldn't get it straight. he was supposed to look presentable in front of the entire school. But his fingers were betraying him.
And worse?
Yeonjun was here.
Helping out again as an altar server like the righteous heartthrob he is, wearing that white robe with his hair all brushed back and looking like the last boss of all school crushes.
Beomgyu groaned softly. "I can't do this."
"You're just reading a passage," Soobin said, stretching on the bench like it was not a life-defining moment. "Relax."
"I'm not nervous about that," Beomgyu muttered.
Soobin raised a brow. "Then what is it?"
Beomgyu was about to answer when—
"Need help?"
He froze.
Yeonjun was right in front of him, holding the other end of Beomgyu's poorly tied necktie.
"Can I?"
Beomgyu nodded like a scared kitten.
Yeonjun stepped closer, gently untying the mess Beomgyu made. The world blurred around them as he carefully looped the tie, fingers brushing against Beomgyu's collarbone, his voice low and calm.
"There. Now you don't look like you fought your uniform."
Beomgyu blinked. "Thanks..."
Yeonjun smiled at him, small and soft.
And Beomgyu? He swore his soul left the chat.
During the mass, Beomgyu stood by the podium, palms sweaty, eyes scanning the crowd. But his gaze kept finding Yeonjun.
He looked so serious holding that golden plate. So composed. So...
"He's so handsome," Beomgyu whispered under his breath, thinking no one could hear him.
Until—
"He's so handsome,"
the speakers echoed.Beomgyu froze.
So did the audience.
The mic.
WAS. ON.
The priest blinked.
A classmate in the third row let out a choked laugh.
Soobin burst out crying from laughter in the back.
Yeonjun... slowly turned to look at him, lips twitching.
Beomgyu wanted to evaporate. Vanish. Move to Antarctica.
He finished his reading in record time, practically ran back to his seat, and covered his entire face with the mass leaflet.
After the mass, in the chaos of everyone filing out, Yeonjun passed by, nudged his elbow, and whispered
"You think I'm handsome, huh?"
Beomgyu nearly screamed.
"It was the Holy Spirit talking." he whispered back, red-faced.
Yeonjun just laughed. That same damn fox-like laugh that made Beomgyu want to throw a pew at him and also marry him at the same time.
Later, Soobin sent him a screenshot from the school livestream with the caption:
"Beomgyu: Confessing in the house of the Lord."
Beomgyu blocked him for 10 minutes.
