Two Weeks Later
"Rank 1: Choi Beomgyu."
The announcement echoed through the room during homeroom. There was a pause. Then a wave of cheers and gasps.
"WTF—BEOMGYU?!" Sunoo screamed from across the room. "You beat the class nerd?!"
"REI?!"
Even the teachers were confused. Beomgyu blinked, unsure how to react.
He wasn't trying to impress anyone. Not anymore. But a small piece of him wished Yeonjun could've seen it. Wished he had known that his words had somehow been the only thing Beomgyu held onto through the silent nights.
Later That Day
Beomgyu stood at the rooftop, his new hideout. There was a cool breeze, and the sunset made the world look a little less cruel.
He pulled out a worn journal from his bag. The same one he started during the summer. The one with stories about two boys who almost loved each other but didn't know how.
He wrote at the top of the next blank page:
"I'm still doing my best. Even if you're not watching."
– from someone who still thinks of you when the wind feels like goodbye. And when the bell rang, he closed the notebook and headed back to class like nothing happened.
