Beomgyu was peacefully zipping up his bag when Sunoo slammed the door open like a man on a mission.
"Beomgyu. Yeonjun is outside your building."
Beomgyu blinked. "...huh?"
"HE. IS. OUTSIDE," Sunoo whisper-screamed. "Just standing there. Leaning on a post. Like a K-drama male lead. I nearly fainted on the stairs."
"No—he's probably just... waiting for someone else," Beomgyu reasoned. But his voice was shaky.
Soobin suddenly appeared behind them like the ghost of delulu present. "Waiting for someone else? Be serious. This is the third time he's been spotted near your building after classes this week."
Beomgyu felt his soul exit his body.
Sunoo was fanning himself. "This is better than any K-drama I've watched."
"Stop saying weird things, he's just—he's probably—ugh!"
Beomgyu stomped toward the door, pretending he wasn't hyperventilating inside. He walked down the stairs and stepped outside
and saw him.
Yeonjun. In uniform, backpack slung over one shoulder, hair slightly messy like he ran his hand through it too many times. He was actually leaning on a post.
Like some kind of teenage boyfriend material.
"Oh. You're here," Yeonjun smiled.
Beomgyu swallowed. "Y-Yeah..."
"I thought maybe I'd walk with you. I mean, it's on my way home."
(News flash: it's not.👅👅)
"Oh... okay."
Beomgyu nearly tripped over his own foot walking beside him.
They walked in silence at first. Beomgyu's heart was pounding so loud he swore Yeonjun could hear it. He tried not to look at him, but then he did, and Yeonjun was already looking at him.
"So... you write stories?" Yeonjun asked suddenly.
Beomgyu choked on his own breath.
"W-What?"
"In your notebook. You wrote something about recognizing someone after seven years. It sounded... kind of sad."
Beomgyu stared at the ground.
"Yeah, and nahhh that's a love story" he said. "It's a story I was working on."
Yeonjun nodded. "I liked the line."
Beomgyu didn't know what to do with that information.
They stopped at the corner where their paths would usually split.
Yeonjun looked like he wanted to say something more... but didn't. He just gave Beomgyu a crooked little smile and said, "See you."
Beomgyu stood there even after Yeonjun walked away.
"Did he just..." he whispered.
A moment later, he heard someone cackling from behind the gates.
Soobin. With Sunoo, Sunghoon, Jungwon and Giselle.
They were hiding behind a tree like gremlins.
"YOU JUST GOT WALKED HOME BY YOUR CRUSH, OMGGG!!!" Sunoo shrieked.
Soobin was already scribbling something on the sidewalk with chalk.
"What are you doing?!" Beomgyu yelled.
"Marking history," Soobin replied seriously, as he wrote in giant letters:
BEOMJUN WALKED HERE.
Giselle took a photo.
Beomgyu was never showing his face again.
But deep inside?
He was smiling.
