The door clicked shut behind them as Yeonjun set down the bag of snacks and drinks he had picked up from the convenience store. Beomgyu barely looked up from the couch, bundled in a hoodie, hair a mess, and eyes locked on a rerun of some variety show that wasn't even funny anymore.
Yeonjun flopped beside him, resting his head on Beomgyu's lap like it was the most natural thing in the world.
"I quit my job," Yeonjun said casually.
Beomgyu's hands paused mid-motion. "You what?"
Yeonjun gave him a straight face. "I turned in my badge and uniform this morning. Said I wanted to dedicate my life to serving my boyfriend."
Beomgyu shoved his shoulder. "Shut up."
"I'm serious," Yeonjun insisted dramatically. "They asked for a reason on the paperwork. I wrote 'my boyfriend is a full-time job.'"
Beomgyu looked down at him with wide, stunned eyes.
Yeonjun burst out laughing, curling into Beomgyu's stomach. "I'm kidding! God—you should've seen your face. I just filed for a one-week leave. Told them it's for mental health, which is technically not a lie because being away from you makes me sick."
Beomgyu stared at him in disbelief, his heart thumping way too fast for someone who was allegedly annoyed by this man just last month. "You're so dramatic."
"And yet you love it," Yeonjun said, now pulling Beomgyu down until they were face to face, nose to nose, tangled in the messy sheets of his bed.
They settled in quietly. The soft rustling of fabric, the rise and fall of Yeonjun's breathing, the faint noise of Toto squawking "DUMB COUPLE ALERT" from the hallway.
Beomgyu didn't say anything. He just let Yeonjun hold him.
And somewhere in between the silence and the warmth of Yeonjun's arms around him, it hit him like a damn truck.
He was falling.
Hard.
Fast.
And he didn't know how to stop it.
This wasn't part of the plan.
He was supposed to dump Yeonjun. 75 days, clock out, move on.
But now—The thought of Day 75 made his chest tighten.
And not in the good way.
"Stop looking like you're trying to solve a math equation," Yeonjun murmured, eyes still closed. "Just sleep, baby."
Beomgyu tucked his face into Yeonjun's neck.
He didn't answer.
Because he didn't want to lie and say everything was fine.
And he sure as hell wasn't ready to admit the truth either.
