The auditorium was packed. Students buzzing, filming TikToks, and yelling for their friends onstage. Beomgyu sat in the crowd, slumped in his seat, hoodie up, earbuds in — pretending to exist in a world where Choi Yeonjun didn't exist.
Taehyun nudged him. "Hey. You okay?"
"Fine."
Lie. Beomgyu hadn't stopped thinking about that night. About Yeonjun's stupid bruised cheek. His broken voice. The snacks he never took. The pain in his eyes.Beomgyu wanted to stop hurting.
But he didn't know how to forgive someone who faked cheating just to leave him."Next up!" the emcee boomed. "We've got a... last-minute surprise? Uh... a very dramatic, chaotic guy named Yeonjun—?"
Beomgyu's head whipped up.
No. No no no.
And then—
Yeonjun walked on stage.
Holding a mic. Still bruised. Still stupidly handsome.
Wearing a shirt that said "SORRY I'M DUMB (BUT I'M IN LOVE)" in all caps. The crowd erupted in confused laughter and screams.
Beomgyu wanted to die."What the hell is he doing—" Taehyun gasped.
"Don't look," Beomgyu muttered, but his eyes refused to look away.
Yeonjun cleared his throat into the mic. "Hi. Um. I'm not here to sing or dance—although I can do both if that'll help." He chuckled nervously. "I'm here because I'm in love with a boy. A very angry, beautiful, confusing boy."
The crowd let out a collective oooooh.
Beomgyu buried his face in his hoodie.
"His name's Beomgyu. And I'm the idiot who hurt him. On purpose. Because I overheard something and didn't have the balls to just talk to him like a normal person."
Yeonjun scanned the crowd. "I faked cheating on him so he'd hate me enough to let me go. But I forgot to account for one thing."He held up a hand, visibly shaking.
"I don't want him to let me go."Gasps. Girls in the audience were swooning. A guy shouted, "MARRY ME INSTEAD!!"
Beomgyu wanted the floor to open and swallow him whole.Yeonjun smiled sadly. "I know I probably don't deserve another chance. But if there's even 1% of you that still cares, Beomgyu—please. Just look at me."
Beomgyu clenched his fists. His heart thundered.
Everyone was staring. Phones were recording. Whispers echoed. He couldn't breathe. But slowly—so slowly—he lifted his head.
Their eyes met.
Yeonjun's whole face lit up with hope.
Beomgyu stared. Blank-faced.
Then slowly... stood up.The audience gasped.
He walked up the aisle toward the stage. Each step heavy. His heart loud.
Yeonjun held his breath.Beomgyu stopped right in front of the stage. Looked up at him. Silence.
And then—
He reached into his hoodie pocket.
Pulled out...
His sock.
The one Yeonjun tried to return weeks ago.And threw it at his face.
The crowd SCREAMED.
Yeonjun flinched as it smacked his forehead. "Ow—?!"
"You're still annoying." Beomgyu said. "And I'm still mad."
Yeonjun stared, stunned. "But...?"
Beomgyu sighed. "But you're an idiot I maybe kind of possibly fell for. And I'm still trying to un-fall. So don't think this means I forgive you."
Yeonjun blinked. And then—he grinned.
"I'll take it."Beomgyu rolled his eyes. "One more public stunt like this and I'm calling your police station and reporting harassment."
Yeonjun laughed, stepping down from the stage. "I deserve that."
Beomgyu looked away. His ears were pink. "And you better buy me hotpot after this."
Yeonjun beamed. "Anything for my violent little boyfriend."
Beomgyu gasped. "I'm not your—!"
But Yeonjun had already pulled him into a hug.
And this time...
Beomgyu didn't push him away.
