Yeonjun stood outside the school gates, flowers in one hand, a brown paper bag of Beomgyu's favorite snacks in the other. He hadn't slept. Not properly. His cheek was still bruised from Soobin's punch. But he was here.
Waiting.
For him.
He saw Beomgyu walking out, surrounded by friends, Kang Taehyun at his side. Beomgyu's smile dropped the moment he saw Yeonjun.
"Gyu!" Yeonjun called out, stepping forward.
Beomgyu didn't stop walking.
"Wait—listen, please—just give me a second—"
But Beomgyu breezed past him like he didn't exist.
Yeonjun jogged after him, clutching the flowers like they'd anchor him.
"Beomgyu. Please. Just talk to me."
Beomgyu finally stopped. Turned. Cold eyes, nothing like the warmth Yeonjun used to see in them.
"There's nothing left to say."
Yeonjun's heart cracked. "I didn't cheat on you. It was staged. I did it because I thought—"
"Oh, so now it was for me?" Beomgyu cut him off. "You humiliated me in front of that stranger. You made me feel disposable. And now you want a redemption arc?"
The words hit Yeonjun like knives. "I was scared, Gyu. I overheard you telling Soobin you didn't love me. That I was just a deal. What was I supposed to do?"
Beomgyu flinched, his guard faltering for just a second.
Taehyun, quiet until now, stepped in. "Maybe he shouldn't have lied, but maybe you shouldn't have said things you didn't mean either."
Beomgyu looked away. "I didn't ask for this. He came into my life like a storm. I didn't mean to... I didn't mean to care this much."
Yeonjun stepped forward, voice soft. "Then say that. Don't throw me away. Not yet."
Beomgyu's eyes shimmered. But he shook his head. "You said you wanted me to hate you, right? Congrats. It worked."
And he walked away.
Yeonjun sat on the floor, surrounded by petals from the bouquet Beomgyu didn't take. Soobin and Kai sat on the couch, watching their friend self-destruct.
Soobin sighed, tossing a stress ball at Yeonjun. "Well, that went great."
Kai frowned. "But he didn't really mean it, did he?"
"No," Yeonjun said quietly, "he didn't."
Soobin leaned forward. "Alright. If Beomgyu won't listen to words... let's go big. Romantic drama level 3000. You have to prove it. Not with flowers or snacks. Do something stupidly sincere."
Yeonjun looked up. "Like what?"
Kai grinned. "You ever heard of public confessions?"
Soobin groaned. "Please not the megaphone idea again—"
Yeonjun blinked. "...no, wait. That's actually perfect."
