I was chewing the apple when Sam came in the kitchen. "We're leaving in 5 minutes. Get ready." he ordered without making eye contact with me. I furrowed my eyebrows and shook my head. "Who says I'm coming with you?" I mused and he finally focused his gaze on me. "I said it." he said with a smirk on his face. "Well, you're wrong then. I'm staying here." I mumbled. He stepped closer and took the apple out of my hand. "Go to your room and put something more classy than sweatpants on you. Then, we'll go to school and you'll enjoy the time out of this flat." he said while I was only staring at him. "Go." he said and I folded my arms over my chest. "I'm not going anywhere." I protested and he raised his eyebrows. But not angrily, he still had the smirk on his face. "Oh, you are. And then, we'll have lunch together." he added and I chuckled. "What makes you so sure?" I posed and he grinned. "You've just let out a little laugh." he said and I bit my lip. Yeah, I did. "And that makes me continue. I'll get you out of this flat, Char." he said and I smiled softly. "I...I'll get ready." I mumbled quietly and padded into my room.
I came in the hall and cleared my throat. Sam looked up at me from his phone and smiled. "It's a nice change seeing you with no bags under your eyes and dressed like you care." he said and I smiled softly. "How many lessons do you have today?" I posed while putting on my black sneakers. "2 lessons. One class with age under 15 and then up to 30." he said and I smiled dumbly. "Don't you miss it?" he mused and I looked up at him. "I do. But...I can't teach. Not now." I mumbled and he nodded. "It'll get better." he said and I peeked at him through my eyelashes. "Promise?" I mused quietly and he nodded. "Promise." he confirmed and I put on my hat. "Shall we?" he posed and I nodded taking a deep breath. This won't get better just like that. I need to try to make the pain smaller.
....
"Hello guys!" Sam greeted his group after coming in the classroom. After taking a deep breath, I followed him in. "H-hey." I rambled. I haven't seen this many people since...since I came. They greeted me too. My eyes wandering over them, I shivered. Too many people at once... Sam felt that I'm nervous, and so he brought me closer by my waist. I gulped realizing what he did. Somebody's hands are on me again. And...it feels strange. "Guys, this is my friend, Charlotte. She's a teacher too. We studied together. And today, she's gonna stay here with us." Sam spoke and they nodded. "Would you like to take a seat, Char?" he mused quietly while the others were looking at their textbooks. After realizing he's pointing on the teacher's desk, I shook my head quickly. "I...I'll be perfectly fine...there." I said showing him the furthest desk. He sighed, but didn't protest. "Okay. Fine." he agreed and I padded away to take the seat.
.....
"How did you like my lessons?" Sam posed helping me out of the car. I shrugged while looking at the restaurant we've arrived at. "It was cool. Are we gonna have lunch here?" I changed the subject. He nodded and furrowed his eyebrows. "Don't like it?" he squealed. "No..I...it's okay." I said. This is the restaurant I was walking by a day ago. "Good afternoon. Could I offer you a table?" the man asked making me look at him. This one...isn't the one who was here before. I took a step back letting Sam speak for me. "Yes, we'd like a table for 2." he said. "C'mon." Sam encouraged me and I followed him in the building, "Your waitress is gonna be here in a few minutes." the man had announced before walking away. "Char?" Sam called softly. "I...I couldn't dismiss the moment you took a step back." he said and I gulped. "I know that you...you're feeling insecure, but..you have to get back to normal again. And.." he was speaking when he stopped at once. "Hey Sam!" a man's voice exclaimed making me look up from my lap. "Hi Marcel! What's up?" Sam spoke. I've never seen that man before. He's...quite short. "I'm outside with friends having lunch. See you're doing the same with your...girlfriend?" the man mused looking at me. Being really uncomfortable with the way he was observing me, I looked away.
Calm down, Charlotte. It's okay. "No, no. This is my friend, Charlotte. Char, this is Marcel." Sam spoke. I looked at him and nodded not stretching my hand out. "Nice to meet you, Charlotte." he said making the move to get my hand. I gulped, but decided to shake it. It was very quick what made him a bit confused. "Uum..so...Sam. Long time no see." Marcel said while I was fiddling with the ham of my cardigan. "Yeah. I've..been busy." Sam answered and I shivered realizing he was busy with me. "We should correct that! What about going out tonight?" Marcel said and Sam laughed. "On Thursday?" he posed. "Why not?" Marcel responded and I felt Sam's eyes on me. "Only if I can take Char with me." Sam said and my heart stopped beating. I'll kill him. "She's welcomed." Marcel assured him while looking at me. "It's a deal then." Sam agreed. "I'll text you the address and details." Marcel said as they shook hands. "Enjoy your meal." Sam told him. "You too." he responded and took a step towards me. "Char, it was a pleasure to meet you." he said and walked away. "Charlie? What's that face like?" Sam asked after a while if silence when I was only staring at the space in front of me. "I'm no Char to him." I explained and looked at him. "Charlie, c'mon." Sam groaned, but I was quick to shake my head. "No Char to a man I've only met!" I said a bit more sternly. "Okay. No Char for him. I'll give you this evening to make it clear to him." Sam said and looked down on the menu. I'm Charlotte. If you give a person a nickname, it means you're building a relationship. And I don't want that.
Marcel's POV
Sitting down on my chair after returning back, I shook my head quite amused. "What happened?" Marco asked me and I looked at him. "There's Sam..Sam Smith inside." I answered and he nodded after a while. "Tell him to join us!" Robin said, but I shook my head. "There's a woman with him. A friend, he said." I explained and Robin chuckled. "A friend. Sure." he said ironically, but I shook my head. "She is only a friend." I said and Marco furrowed his eyebrows. "What makes you be so sure?" he posed and I shrugged. "She was...cold? Hard to get?" I tried to explain. I really can't say what she's like. She was cold, yet...something doesn't let me believe she's like that all the time. "Oh so." Robin mumbled while I kept staring at Marco. "Shall we meet her?" he asked already standing up, but I pushed him back on the chair. "Sit down, man. You'll have the evening to get to know her." I said and they both furrowed their eyebrows. "I invited Sam out and he wants to take her with us." I explained and Robin shrugged. "Can't wait to see that mysterious cold lady." Robin said. Watching Marco's reaction, I chuckled. "Can't wait, Reus?" I teased and he rolled his eyes. "Shut up." he muttred. Tonight's gonna be interesting.
