Wednesday
Running my fingers through my hair, I looked at myself in the mirror again. Black jeans, white blouse, navy high heels, navy handbag...loose hair...that should look good for the first day at job. Aargh God, I'm so nervous. "Marco?" I said after Marco had answered the phone. "You sound scared." he said without greeting me and I gulped hardly. "Terrified even." I mumbled and put on my coat. "Tell me something nice, please." I said desperately and he giggled. "Charlotte, you're the most beautiful and intelligent woman I've ever seen. You'll do much better than great." he said and I smiled. "Your students will love you." he added and I bit my lip. "You're a good liar." I quipped and he laughed. "Feeling any better?" he asked and I nodded. Only hearing his voice can make me relaxed. "Much better." I whispered and locked the door. "Keep your fingers crossed." I begged. "Sure thing, baby." he said and I blushed lightly. "Bye bye." I said and hung up. Here I go...
.....
Opening the door, I smiled politely. "Good afternoon." I greeted loudly so that everybody would hear me. They all looked at me and smiled. "Hi! You must be Charlie!" one girl approached me and I nodded. "I'm Emily, nice to meet you." she said and hugged me. "Maria." the other one said and shook hands with me. "And I'm Javier." the guy said and I furrowed my eyebrows. "Spanish?" I asked and he nodded. "Proud Spanish man who teaches English in Germany. Cool, right?" he joked and I giggled nodding my head. "This is your desk, Charlie!" Emily dragged me through the staff room excitedly. "You have the name list of your students there and all the folders you need." she added and I smiled. "Thank you." I said politely and she shrugged. "You have the advanced group, don't you?" she posed sitting down next to me. "Yeah, my job is to teach them how to speak fluently and add some more words into their vocabulary." I explained and she nodded. "I teach the biginners." she said and I nodded. "You have to be very patient then." I mused and she giggled. "Actually, I'm patient only at work. In my personal life, I'm a hurricane." she quipped and I giggled. "Maybe we could be friends. I like you!" she said and I giggled. I often find this behaviour weird, but she's very sweet and nice.
.....
"And they were all so nice." I told Marco over the phone. "I told you you have nothing to be afraid of." he said and I nodded. "You were right!" I squealed and he scoffed. "Always listen to me." he said and I giggled. "The lift is broken, how nice, isn't it?" I posed sarcastically. "Just take off the heels and run up the stairs." Marco said and I giggled. "No way. I'll call you after changing my clothes, okay?" I asked. "I'll be waiting." he said and hung up. These heels are gonna be the death of me. After finishing the first pair of stairs, I took a deep breath ready to make it to my flat when my ankle sprained. I screamed in pain and sat down immediately. "Hey!" somebody yelled and approached me. "Charlie. Jesus." Felix said throwing the sports bag on the ground. "Did you hit your head or anything?" he asked while I was making painful faces. "I sprained my freaking ankle." I exclaimed and he sighed. "This one?" he mused touching my right ankle. I winced in pain, but nodded. "Okay. I'll lift you up now." he announced and I couldn't protest. It hurts as hell. "You just need to help me a bit." he said and I nodded. Taking off my shoe, he put it into his bag and knelt down again. "Wrap your arms around my neck so that you won't fall, okay?" he ordered and I nodded obeying him. "Ouch." I groaned and he nodded. "Okay, it's okay." he tried to calm me down. This is exactly what I hate about heels. I can't control my actions in it!
"Breath." Felix told me sitting on the floor while I was on the sofa. I groaned and tried to touch my ankle, but he shook his head. "I'll call my friend who's a physiotherapist." he said and I nodded bitting my lip. "It's purple." I commented my ankle and he nodded pressing the phone on his ear. "Hi. I've got a problem here." he said and I looked at him. "No, not me. A friend of mine sprained her ankle. Could you come?" he asked and I winced in pain. "Okay. Thanks." he said and hung up. "He'll be here in a while." Felix said and I nodded. He stood up and I flinched not letting him touch it. "I'll just take a look. I won't touch, promise." he posed and I nodded. After a while of looking at it, he smiled at me lightly. "It should be only sprained." he mused. "Why do you think so?" I asked and he shrugged. "This happened to me in the gym too." he explained and I gulped. I want my Marco to hold my hand now.
6 pm
"It's sprained." Max said and I nodded putting the ice pack back on it. "What now?" I asked and he chuckled lightly. "First of all, try not to wear heels. Secondly, you need to strengthen your ankle and muscles." he said and I raised my eyebrows. "Don't look so scared." he quipped. "Here, Felix is a very good personal coach. He'll get you there." he said and I shook my head. There's no possibility that I'm gonna step there. "Yeah, sure. I'll help you." Felix said and I shivered. Gym... yeah, Oliver used to work there. "We'll fix that later. Can I step on my foot now?" I asked and he nodded. "Sure. Be careful." he said and I sat down. It's okay. I'll either fall down, or walk normally. I stood up and made a face. "The pain will fade away. Just give it some time." he said and I nodded. "I wanna go home." I said and Felix furrowed his eyebrows. "You're sure?" he asked and I nodded. "Could I get my shoes back?" I asked and he nodded walking away to get it. I wanna call Marco.
"Are you gonna be okay?" Felix posed and I nodded. "I'm sure. After all.." I was cut off as my phone started ringing. "Who's that?" he asked and I smiled lightly. "My b-...Marco. It's Marco." I said and he furrowed his eyebrows. "Okay. If you need anything, call me." he said and I chuckled. "Actually, I don't have your phone number." I said and his smile froze. "Yeah, that's right." he mumbled sadly. "But...if anything, be sure I'll let you know somehow." I said and he nodded. "Okay. Be careful." he said and I nodded. Waving me, he started leaving. After hearing the door being shut, I dialed Marco's number quickly. "Hi." I greeted him. "Charlie? Baby, what's wrong? Are you okay?" he asked and I looked at my ankle. "Actually, I sprained my ankle a bit. B-but a physiotherapist told me it's nothing serious. I should just strengthen my ankle." I said. "W-who? What kind of physiotherapist? Where did you even meet him? What happened to you?" he exclaimed. "I was walking up the stairs when it happened. My neighbour, Felix, helped me and called his friend who's a physio." I explained and Marco sighed. "I was just about to leave to the stadium, but I'll be at yours in a few, okay?" he asked. Stadium? Oh! They have a match! "N-no! Go and watch it. I'll be fine." I protested. "Charlie." he warned and I bit my lip. "My girlfriend sprained her ankle. Who should take care of her? Her boyfriend. And, as far as I know, that's me." he said and I blushed while smiling. "I'll be there in a few, Char." he said and I nodded. "Bye. I l-...can't wait to see you." he rambled and hung up. Was it just my stupid brain or did he want to say something else? I l-...
