"I can't tell you."

Luke's P.O.V

I was only talking to Daniel for a few minutes & I thought Ellie had gone by Michael so I had no idea why she was currently crying in the bathroom. It didn't make sense to me how that scene unfolded.

I ran through everyone until I made it to the door where a few people were queuing & pounding at the door for her to open up.

"Ellie!" I yelled as I knocked, pushing past the people. "It's me, babe." She didn't answer right away. "It's just me, baby. Please open up?"

"I need to pee!" One girl was yelling behind me. "Get the door open!"

"I think there's another one upstairs." I told her. "Please go up there. I'll figure this out." & then that girl, along with a few others in the queue, left. "Ellie, it's literally me now. Everyone else went to another bathroom, I promise." & then the door opened just slightly before I slipped inside, shutting it right behind me.

Ellie was standing there but she was looking down, hiding her face in her hands as she tried to turn away from me.

"Baby, what's the matter?" I grabbed her wrists so she couldn't turn away from me & then I had her bring her hands away from her face so I could look at her. "Ellie? What just happened? Was it something about your band? Why are you so upset?"

"I need to go now."

"Are you sure? We can stay in here a little if you need it to calm you down."

"L-luke." She was seriously crying & it was breaking my heart to see her this way. I hadn't seen her cry before & this was so sad. She looked devastated, she looked so hurt. "I need to go. Please. C-can we go?"

"Of course." I pulled her in for a hug. "Let me just tell the others we're leaving."

"No. Can you text them that we left? I want to go right now now."

"Okay, yea. I will. I will. We can go, sweetheart." I looked down as I tried to catch a few tears. "Baby, I want to know what happened. I'm so sorry I dragged you to this party but what happened?"

"We need to go." She whispered as she squeezed my wrists. "Please?"

"Yea, c'mon." I took Ellie's hand before we left the bathroom & we went straight towards the front door. I led the way & I knew Ellie was walking behind me with her head down to hide from everyone else.

I had no idea what could have happened in the five minutes that I was talking to Daniel. I wasn't sure if the alcohol was playing into her emotions but she hadn't really drank that much & I knew she could handle her alcohol well. I had no idea what caused her to have a breakdown in the middle of the party.

"Can you wait a second while I text the guys?" I asked her once we were outside & a few houses away from the party. Ellie didn't answer, she simply stopped walking & I quickly let go of her hand as I sent a text to the boys that we left. "We're still going to Michael's though, okay? I can't drive yet because I drank a decent amount & it's only down the street. Is that fine with you?" Michael's parents knew we were at a party & that we'd be crashing at his house so I knew his house was unlocked for us luckily too.

"Sure." Ellie sighed while I finished sending the text before we continued walking. I reached out to hold her hand again but she kept it tense at her side.

"Ellie."

"Luke, stop."

"I want to know what happened in there." She continued walking next to me, not saying a word. "Baby, please? What made you start to cry?"
