Differences - Kaoru x reader

"Come on, I said I was sorry. What do you want me to do? I didn't mean to kick you out of bed. It was an accident." Hikaru stated as he walked behind Kaoru down the stairs.
"Accident or not my back is killing me, and that's not just why I'm annoyed." Kaoru crossed his arms as he headed down to the dining room. They sat down as you watched from the others side of the room as you served another table.
"Get us some breakfast please!" Hikaru demanded to Haruhi. You sighed and shook your head heading back to the kitchen, grabbing a few orders as you went.
"I'll have two pieces of baguette toast with clarified butter and garnet seal syrup."
"I'll take poached eggs with bacon, and a bowl of wholegrain cereal, the kind with those little ground pieces of fruit in it."
"Hold on! We don't even have that stuff on the menu." You found yourself smiling as you noted down the odd parts of their conversation. You wandered back into the kitchen to find what you could as you made the rest of the guests breakfasts. You brought out what you'd managed to make to the boys table, were they appeared to be being lectured by Tamaki. You set down the plates on their table when they looked away and walked/ran back to the kitchen. You wandered back out sometime later, to find everyone had separated off into a group around a table, leaving Hikaru and Kaoru standing alone at the counter. You sauntered over to Kaoru and tapped him on the shoulder.
"What's going on?" He briefly explained the situation, making you glance over at Hikaru, who was close to exploding, and he did.
"Hey, Hikaru, Kaoru!" Tamaki called from the table. "You guys come over here too. This is a rare chance to hear some episodes from Haruhi's middle school days." You looked up at Kaoru to see what he was doing, since you were kind of interested.
"I don't especially want to hear about them. Or should I say, how stupid are you? I can't understand why you'd get so excited over hearing stories about the past. And doesn't he get that Haruhi wants nothing to do with him? Haruhi doesn't have any room for you in her life." You heard a chair slam back but you hardly had time to turn around before Haruhi was behind Hikaru, her handing making contact with his head.
"It's not up to you to decide, Hikaru! If you say one more rude thing to my friend, you'll answer to me!" She stopped. You stood just in front of Kaoru as Hikaru started to murmur to himself.
"What is this?.. Why do other people matter?.. WE'RE YOUR FRIENDS, AREN'T WE?" He stood up abruptly, slamming his hand down on the counter. You jumped backwards, hitting Kaoru who had his arm out for you. Hikaru paused himself, glaring down at Haruhi, before running off.
"Hikaru. Wait up!" He started after Hikaru as he headed for the stairs.
"Kaoru!" Kaoru grabbed you on his way, making you yelp but follow him nonetheless.


Kaoru leaned into their room, whilst you stood behind the door.
"Wow, that was pretty hot-headed. Growing pains?" You heard Kaoru as he walked into the room.
"Kaoru, you were disgusted too." Hikaru sounded pretty pissed.
"I still think I was more rational than you." You moved till your back hit the wall and you slid down it. It could take either hours or seconds to make Hikaru mover, but in this case, it was likely to be a while. You heard the bed creak, being what you suppose was Kaoru sitting down. Kaoru walked out sometime later, but he was wearing Hikaru's clothes. You stood up, making him look at you.
"What's with the get-up?" He frowned at you.
"What do you mean? I've been in this all day." You raised an eyebrow and walked up to him.
"You're not fooling me, Kaoru." His face dropped and he face palmed slightly.
"How?" He asked you quietly.
"Well, other than the fact that I generally know, this," You poked the scratch on his cheek. "makes it alittle obvious." Kaoru sighed. You suddenly had an idea and started to run to Haruhi's room.
"Stay there." You ran into her bathroom and grabbed the item. You ran back and dug your heels in to stop yourself, but not before hitting Kaoru's chest. You bounced back and held up the small stick, pulling the lid off and carefully running it along his cut.
"There. All gone. Kinda." You walked down the stairs, seeing the group walk outside with Arai just as you got to the top. You suddenly heard Miss Misuzu calling you from the other side of the hall.
"Wait alittle before going out. I'll be there when this is down." It turned out Miss Misuzu had only wanted you to move a pot to the right, which took mere seconds, so you then headed outside, seen as no one had come back in yet. You opened the door a fraction, hearing Kaoru speaking.
"-all day tomorrow, will you go on a date with me?" Your heart shattered there and then. You were certain he'd promised to go into town with you. But you were certain off what he had just asked Haruhi. A small gasp made him turn round and your eyes met, before you shut the door and ran.
Can't he go a day without doing something wrong?... One stupid day when you're not running from him? You slammed your door behind you and locked it. He's not getting away this time.
"Y/N. Please. Let me in." You just sat on your bed.
"Please. It's not what you think." You snapped when he spoke.
"REALLY? ISN'T IT? IS THERE ANY OTHER WAY TO TAKE YOU ASKING SOMEONE OUT, RIGHT AFTER YOU PROMISED TO HANG OUT WITH ME? TELL ME. IS THERE?" You fell silent again. You heard Kaoru slam his fist into your door, a small clunk following, which you guessed was his head.
"Just let me explain..." You sighed.
"I know, that you like her. Hikaru does too. But I can't just let do keep doing this. Confusing me. Even if you don't mean it..." You could hear sniffs coming from the door. Is he crying?.. You opened the door, to see Kaoru covering his face.
"C-come on. Don't cry. Please Kaoru." He looked up at you. He wasn't bowling, but he was definitely crying, the tears occasionally dripping from his eyes.
"I'm sorry. I-I didn't mean for you to hear it like that. I don't want to make you so angry." He pulled you into a hug, shocking you slightly. You relaxed and hugged him back. You sighed and pulled your door shut, so your were now in your room. You stood hugging for awhile.
"I'm not forgiving you till you give me a valid reason. And I mean a proper one." He pulled back and nodded to you, as you sat on your bed. He followed suit and you looked at him expectantly.
