I'm Not Afraid of the Dark (Yuto x Reader)

You wander down the footpath of Paradise City, headphones in with your favourite artist blasting your ears [sorry if you like more classical music]. The day had been a hard one. Even though you were the top of your class at school, three consecutive exams wear you down.

You sigh. Taking the familiar turn towards You Show Duel School, you take out the headphones and pick up the pace.

"(y/n)!" You turn at the sound of your name, and see the friendly face of Yuzu heading your way. Her pink hair is done in its normal double ponytail style, and she carries her school bag over one shoulder.

You wave. "Are you going to class?" You ask, mood slightly lightened by her enthusiasm. You had only been attending the school for a month at most, but everyone was always so nice to you. When Tate and Sora joined more recently, it was the least you could do to pass on the friendliness.

Yuzu caught up to you and you walk to class together. "I think the theoretical class is cancelled today." You frown at her.

"Then what are we doing?"

"Dueling! So come on!" Yuzu races on ahead, but you easily catch her.

"You are so on!"

As you enter You Show, you rush straight into the dueling room and take out your deck and duel disk, panting slightly. Your (h/l) (h/c) hair hangs messily in your face, but you don't mind. All you care about is winning your duel.

"Hey (y/n), aren't you going to at least say hello?" A tomato haired boy runs up to you. His duel disk is out and ready.

"Hi Yuya! I thought I was going to duel Yuzu?"

He laughs. "You have already beaten her three times in a row. She says you need a harder opponent, so I'll duel you instead!"

You snort. "Modest much!" Yuya's hurt look only makes you laugh harder. "Come on."

You move to one side of the room, and signal to Sora to choose an action field spell. You liked Sora. He always laughing and eating sweets. But that doesn't necessarily mean that you trust him. You have always been able to trust your gut feeling, which most of the time turned out to be correct, and something told you that the blue-haired boy was not all that he seems. Like he is hiding something.

Still, you yell your thanks to him and start your duel. "Duel!" You and Yuya yell in unison.

The match is quite long and definitely harder than your previous ones. Yuya pendulum summons on his second turn, and makes things rather difficult for you, but your agility and nose for action cards helps you hold on. It was all going well until you drew the card polymerization. You had had this card for as long as you could remember, but something about it felt wrong. Still, you couldn't deny that it came useful in duels. When you brought your ace fusion monster out, it was soon all over.

You jog up to Yuya where he is sitting on the ground rubbing his head and help him to stand.

"That was a great duel! I hope I didn't hurt you." Your voice wavers at the possibility.

Yuya laughs and grins at you. "Don't worry about it. You were awesome out there!" You smile sheepishly at the compliment.

"Well, I have been practicing."

"I can tell!" His words make you blush. Yuya is always so sweet.

Yuzu comes running up to you as Yuya shakes your hand. You think you see a dark look in her eyes at the contact. A smirk creeps onto your face. It is so obvious that they like each other.
