*(y/n)'s Point of View*

You woke up late the next morning. So late in fact, that as you looked to the clock on your bedside table, you could see it read 4:00pm.

You try to get up but a groan escapes you. Your entire body aches, but you can't really remember how you came to this state. Yesterday was a blur.

You recall staying home . . . then deciding to go out in the afternoon . . . then not feeling well and walking back towards home . . . then . . . then . . .

A word snags on your mind and brings your train of thought to a stop.

Fusion.

Oh God.

Some of the comments of the soldiers flood back as your memory returns. How your father was sealed away in a card when your mother and you fled. How you are not actually from this dimension. How there are people out there who want to hurt you.

Your mother's flustered state and prepared duel disk suddenly make a lot more sense.

You don't get a chance to turn over the rest of the details from the following day as your door creaks open a crack and your mother – speak of the devil – pops her head in.

"Oh good, your awake!" she looks awfully relieved to see you simply breathing. "I called the school to let them know that you wouldn't be there again today. You had a really bad fever when I checked on you last night, so I decided to let you sleep it out. I hope you didn't have any assessments, because it's a bit late now as school is finished for the day."

You offer a smile, and subtly raise a hand to your forehead. There was still a little heat, but it was evidently a lot better. You had almost a full day asleep to thank for that. Luckily, you had no school work or assessments to worry about, but that was really the least of your concerns.

"Mum, I got restless yesterday and went out, but before you freak out and go on lecturing me, I know what I did was wrong, but obviously I am still alive, right?" Your mum closes her mouth. She was so going for the lecture. "Just, hear me out OK? I only went to the park to clear my head. On the way back, I met these three guys who had been following me. They were in some sort of blue uniform and silver helmety thing. Anyway, they refused to let me past, and so I tried to reason with them. They seemed to know who I was, but more by duty and not some creepy stalker way, so I asked them how. They then went on a bit about a place called Duel Academy in the 'Fusion Dimension' and . . . and I want the truth! Are we really from another dimension? Was Dad really sealed into a card? Have you been lying to me all this time? Have you been lying to me my entire life? Please, just tell me the truth!"

"Look, darling, you obviously haven't been feeling well, and . . ."

"No Mum, please! I know what I heard. Tell me the truth."

Her face contorts slightly, giving her lie away. She sighs, and opens her mouth to speak when the doorbell rings. Your mother quickly takes the chance and hurries downstairs to answer it.

"Hello Mrs. (l/n), is (y/n) home?" The familiar sound of Yuya's voice does little to dim your annoyance at your mother's enthusiasm to leave the conversation.

Your mother answers him like she hasn't been lying to you your whole life, and the talk with you was just the usual mother-daughter argument. You bury your fist deep within the bedsheets to stop yourself from screaming.

"Hi Yuya, she has just woken up, but it will be good for her spirits to see you. You know how she is with having to sit still and miss class and all that stuff. Just follow me." Great. Now she was making you sound like a big nerd, hating to miss class and all. It's not that you liked getting no sleep because you have to stay up late finishing assignments, you just cared about your grades. Still, Yuya gives a little laugh in response.
