I'm Not Afraid of the Dark (Yuto x Reader)

The world is dark when you open your eyes, and you find yourself lying down. The ceiling above is... metal? You frown. This wasn't exactly what you thought the inside of a card looked like. The roof was dirty too, encased in what could be years' worth of dust and cobwebs.

You push yourself up into a sitting position, and take a moment to steady yourself and stop the world from spinning. The ground beneath you is cold and hard, but at the same time that harshness is distanced. You reach down to find you are sitting on some sort of black cloth - like a cloak, or jacket.

You find yourself a bit dazed as you look around, and it takes a moment for your surroundings to process through your head. You were in a warehouse, and not just any warehouse: the warehouse. The same one you were in for your battle with Shun.

You day just keeps getting stranger.

Didn't Shun... card you, or something? Why are you still here? Your brain ticks over the thought. You sigh. Nothing.

The slight sound of a complaining hinge draws your attention, and you fix your gaze on the single door. It opens to reveal one raven and lavender haired boy.

"Y-Yuto?" His face almost seems to light up when he sees you, but because of the bad lighting it's hard to tell.

"(y/n)! You're awake!" He rushes up to where you are sitting. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah, I think. What happened?" He kneels down beside you and presses a hand to your forehead.

"When Shun tried to... well... he..."

"When he tried to card me."

"Yes. I stopped him, and I think you fainted. Anyway, you hit your head pretty hard. It's been about half and hour since then."

You fainted?! You really were weak. [Not really, you are probably great! And sorry if I got something wrong. I have never fainted before, though my friend makes a habit of it. Also sorry if you actually wanted to be carded. Not this time ;)] You rest your head in your hands. Life couldn't get worse.

"Hey? (y/n)!" Yuto grabs you by the shoulder and gives you a light shake. You peep through your fingers. "Do you feel dizzy? Do you feel faint?"

You smile. "No, I'm fine."

"Are you sure? I wouldn't want anything to happen to... never mind." He seems to catch himself, and looks away. You swear you see a faint dusting of red across his cheeks. You brush it off.

"Where's... Shun?"

"He's outside cooling off." You still seem skeptical. "It's okay. I think I finally managed to convince him you aren't completely evil." He offers a small smile. "But you are still Fusion." The smile is gone.

You take a deep breath. "I know, but I don't remember it."

"Still, you're one of them, and there is a high chance that you will side with them. Especially if they spin a few lies..."

"I think you forgot that they carded my father! I may have been born there, but this dimension is my home."

"Oh. I guess you're right. Still, you have to understand that Fusion has hurt me too, and that I can't completely trust you." You nod. It did make sense, and you would do the same if you were in his position. "And, if you want and you feel better, you're welcome to go back home. We're not holding you hostage or anything. If you don't know the way I can even, I don't know, show you back or something?"

Your gaze travels down to the cloak and you suddenly become very interested in a loose thread.

It doesn't take him long to catch on. "You don't want to go home?"
