15: Finding Tracy

Start from the beginning

When we finally arrive at the hospital, I park the jeep near the front before the four of us jump out. We walk into the hospital. It doesn't seem very busy today, which is good. "Lydia and Liam, you guys search the ground and second floor. Stiles and I will search the roof." Scott instructs us quietly as we walk past the front desk. We all nod in agreement. I glance at the worried looking nurse walking past us for a second before refocusing my attention back on my friends. "We'll check the basement too." Lydia adds.

"Good idea." I reply. The four of us split up, leaving only Scott and I to head to the elevator. I press the button and we wait for the elevator to arrive. I glance over at Scott and give him a small, hopeful smile. Scott quickly returns the smile. Just then, the elevator dings and the light above it glows. The doors open up and the two of us step inside. I press the button that will take us to the top floor. Slowly, the elevator doors close. After another silent moment, we begin to move. I sigh impatiently, tapping my foot quickly on the ground. I can't seem to stand still. I shift my weight onto my other foot as I stand here waiting for us to reach our floor. Scott notices my restlessness. He turns my chin towards him so that I can look at him. "Hey, what's wrong?" Scott asks me with a small frown, caressing the side of my face with his hand. "Nothing. I just don't like elevators. Especially in a town like this. I'm scared that we will get stuck in here and then we will be burned alive in a fire. Or maybe the cables will snap and then this elevator will plummet to the ground floor, inevitably crushing us. So the sooner we get out of here, the better." I shrug nonchalantly.

"In this town full of supernatural creatures and hunters, it is quite likely that one of those things could happen. I mean, Derek has already been stuck in an elevator here. With the Darach no less." I add on with maybe a little too much enthusiasm. Scott's fingers trail across my jawline for a moment before his hand drops beside him again. Scott takes a step closer to me. "You know that we wouldn't let those things happen. Right?" He asks me, raising an eyebrow slightly. "Still doesn't make me like elevators any more than I do now. I'll always dislike them and feel wary about them, no matter how silly it seems." I grumble and look away from Scott. I feel something grab a hold of my hand and squeeze it gently. I turn back to look at Scott, who is gazing at me with his warm chocolate brown eyes. "It's not silly. Everyone can feel uneasy sometimes. It can keeps us alert." Scott tells me, still holding on to my hand. I smile gratefully at my boyfriend. "Besides, we can take the stairs on the way down, if you want." Scott adds with a smile of his own. With that, we hear a ding and the elevator doors open. Scott and I quickly step out and walk towards the stairs leading up to the roof. "Do you really think she'll be here?" I ask curiously as we start climbing the stair case.

"Who knows? She could be anywhere. I'd try and catch her scent, but I haven't really been around her, so I don't have it." Scott shrugs. We make it up the stairs and open the doors and walk out onto the hospital roof. We look around the area. "Maybe after this we could go back to Tracy's place so you can catch a scent off one of her items?" I suggest as we start walking around, investigating every nook and cranny of the roof. "Yeah, if we don't find her here, that sounds like a good plan." Scott replies in agreement. We walk around for a few more minutes. I move away from Scott and walk to the ledge, leaning over slightly, looking at the ground below. People are just milling about normally, completely unaware of the supernatural living in their town. The wind starts picking up a little. I glance back over to Scott. "Can you smell anything?" I ask as I watch him climb up onto a small platform. He sniffs the air for a minute before turning to me. "Only us. Well, mainly you, since your scent is so irresistible." Scott smirks back at me with a small wink. I can't help but laugh at Scott's attempt of flirting. "What? It is." Scott protests indignantly.

"There's a time and a place, Scott. Come on, we have to focus." I remind the werewolf reluctantly. Of course I would love to just forget about everything that is going on right now, walk over to Scott and kiss him, but I know that I can't. We need to find Tracy. Scott nods and sighs in agreement. "Yeah, you're right. But there's nothing up here though. Let's just go meet up with Lydia and Liam." Scott replies, jumping off the small platform.
