Stiles POV

The next morning, I'm walking around to Scott's house, enjoying the sunshine and fresh air. Ah, how I love weekends. I'm deciding to surprise Scott this morning. I haven't let him know that I'm coming yet. I finally make it to the McCall house and I rush up the front steps with a huge smile on my face. I grab the key out of my pocket and start to unlock the front door. This copy of Scott's house key really comes in handy sometimes. I walk inside, closing the door behind me. "Hello?" I call out, but no one seems to hear me. Huh. I guess neither Scott or Melissa are downstairs. That's when I start to hear the yelling that makes me jump a little in fright.

"Oh my god, are you kidding me, Mom? Please tell me you're kidding!" I hear Scott shout in dismay.

"No, I'm not joking with you, Scott!" Melissa shouts back.

"Well, just get rid of him then! I don't want anything to do with that man!" Scott yells angrily.

"I can't just do that, Scott. He came all this way to see you!" Melissa protests.

"But why now? He has had years to try and come back into my life to make it up to me, but no, I've barely heard a word from him. Except that one time he came to try and fire Stiles' dad. Or the time he investigated Stiles' dad's disappearance. Even then, he was barely here!" Scott argues loudly. I glance up at the stairs, not sure if it's a good idea for me to go up there and see what is going on.

"Why would he choose to come and try to patch things up now?" Scott asks again, his voice loud enough to carry all the way downstairs so I can hear him clearly. "I don't know, Scott! He's your father! He always does random things! Maybe he realized that he wants to try to make things better with you before it's too late?" Melissa yells back at Scott again. I bite my lip, feeling guilty on listening in to Scott and Melissa's argument.

"It is too late, Mom! The damage has been done! I don't want anything to do with that guy! He doesn't even know me! And I don't know him! I have everyone that is important to me and that I need in my life already. I don't need Raphael. I've got you and I've got Stiles. That's all the family that I'll ever need!" Scott shouts back in response.

"John was more of a father to me than 'Dad' ever was." Scott adds harshly. I can hear someone storming down a hall from upstairs. I'm going to assume that it's Scott. I hesitantly make my way to the bottom of the stairs and wait for someone to appear, feeling a little bit uncomfortable listening to all this arguing. I had a feeling Scott would react to his father's return like this. I'll try to talk to him about it, but only when he has calmed down.

"Just make him leave, okay? At the very least, he is not staying in this house. I don't want to talk to Raphael at all while he's here." Scott calls out to his mom as he gets closer towards the stairs, deliberately using his father's first name, wanting to distance himself from his dad more than he is already.

"I'll tell him that you need some time." I hear Melissa concede. I guess she wants this to work. She never wanted Scott's dad just to walk out of Scott's life. She told the drunk to get out of the house, but she didn't tell a father to abandon his son. Scott groans in response to his mom just as he appears at the top of the stairs. He looks very surprised when he sees me standing at the bottom of the stairs, his eyes widening a little.

"Uh, hi, Scott. Um, is this a bad time?" I say a little sheepishly as I rub the back of my head, kind of wanting just to melt into the floor right now. Scott quickly breaks out into a smile and he runs down the stairs to greet me. "No, no, it's okay. I'm fine." Scott reassures me as he rushes to me, quickly grabbing my hands and clasping them gently.
