Stiles POV

It took Ben about an hour and a half to grasp the concept of walking, but he finally gets it. He can walk around the cave without falling over. He still looks a little wobbly and unbalanced, but it's definitely progress, and I think it's enough for us to go back to Beacon Hills, as it is starting to get a bit late. Ben's very proud of his progress and is jumping up and down in excitement.

"Ha! Told you I could do it, Stiles!" Ben exclaims as he points at me.

"Well, you did fall in the water at the start, which was hilarious, and Kara learned to walk in an hour, so you didn't break any cool records." I snicker at my friend, which turns into laughter when Ben makes a face at me.

"Weren't you the one that took a couple of days to learn to not fall over every five seconds, and even now you do still fall over regularly?" Dad reminds me, which causes me to blush profusely in embarrassment while Ben laughs at me. I guess I was asking for that one.

"I think you did great, Ben. Now, let's go home." My dad says, clapping Ben on the shoulder supportively. With that, the three of us walk out of the cave and back up the beach, Ben and I talking excitedly with each other. I can't wait to show him all the cool stuff on land. He needs to try Melissa's spaghetti, because it's honestly to die for. I'm actually very glad that Ben has decided to come and visit land for a bit, now that he's here. It'll be nice for us to hang out more and for Ben to understand what I have had to go through for half of my life, which has now become my normal.

"What's school like up here?" Ben asks as we get into the back seats of Dad's car while Deaton gets into his own car, driving away first.

"Boring as hell. Don't go there, I wouldn't recommend frying your brain due to essays and homework overload, along with the most boring ass teachers that lecture on and on forever." I warn Ben seriously. I'd very much rather to be in school down in Atlantia. We learn much more practical and useful things. However, up here we learn things like calculus, or physics. When the hell are you ever going to use calculus or physics?!

"If I want to get the full experience of what land is like, then I have to go to school." Ben states stubbornly and I can't help but roll my eyes. Ben is practically asking for torture.

"I don't think that's a good idea, Ben. You're 18, so you are supposed to be half way through senior year like Stiles is. That's the worst time of school to try and suddenly get into. You won't know anything that the teachers will be talking about." Dad says as he pulls out of the parking lot and back onto the main road, beginning the drive back to Beacon Hills.

"So? Aren't you supposed to go to school to learn?" Ben asks indignantly.

"Yeah, but I think the teachers will get suspicious when they realize that you know nothing, not even the basics." Dad adds, trying to reason with Ben. I watch Ben's shoulders slump with disappointment, and I feel bad for him. I don't understand why he would want to go to school, but obviously that's one of the things he would want to experience, but as Dad said, it's not really a good idea for him to do that without risking our secret.

"Yeah, I guess you're right." Ben eventually shrugs, sounding a bit defeated, but trying to remain cheerful, before gazing out the window and looking at the scenery in wonder.

"Don't worry, Ben. There will be plenty of other things for you to do. I'll even skip school sometimes to hang out with you, if you want." I nudge my friend in the arm, not liking to see him disappointed.
