"So," Josh says to me as we're strolling along the streets of LA, "where do you want to go next? I mean, we've already been to Hot Topic and my apartment."
"Can we go to The Nice Guy?" I ask him. He chuckles.
"Of all the places you could choose to see in LA, and it's a restaurant."
"Yeah. I've never been to an American restaurant before."
"I'm afraid it's just like an English restaurant except everything is in dollars instead of pounds. But, sure, let's go." We go into the restaurant, which is tucked away on the corner of a street.
"Table for two please," Josh says to the waitress who greets us when we enter.
"I recognise you!" She says, grinning at Josh, "you're Josh Dun." He blushes slightly, putting an arm around my shoulders.
"Indeed I am."
"Well, follow me," the waitress giggles, leading us to a table. She hands us both a menu, but I notice she slightly touches Josh's hand whilst giving him his menu.
"Thank you," we both say. As soon as she leaves, I chuckle.
"Dude, she was totally flirting with you!"
"I know! That was SO awkward. I didn't know what to say!" He looks at his menu, his eyes scanning the different foods.
"So-" he starts to say, but is interrupted by a voice coming from behind me:
"Josh? Hey, buddy, how's it going?" I freeze; I recognise that voice very well. I slowly turn around, and the person who the voice belongs to does a double take.
"Y/N?"
"Y/EX's/N?"
"So, um," he coughs slightly, "how are you?"
"I-I'm good."
"I'm also good," Josh says, and I can hear a hint of anger in his voice.
Uh oh, this isn't going to be good.
"Um, Josh," I whisper. I notice his grip on the menu has tightened.
"What?" He hisses.
"Where's the bathroom?"
"Oh, I can show you." I turn around to see a girl latched onto my ex's arm. She gestures for me to get up, and I reluctantly follow her to the bathroom.
"So, are you a boy or girl?" She asks me. I recoil back, slightly surprised.
"I-I'm a girl, obviously." I chuckle, but she just stares at me.
"Oh, sorry, I didn't know - I thought you were a boy because of your hair and voice." She leaves me standing there shocked as she pushes the door to the ladies toilet. Then I push the door, and follow her.Josh's point of view
"So, you're dating my ex?" Y/N's ex says to me, sitting in HER chair. I put the menu down, and glare at him.
"Yeah, I am."
"How long?"
"Around 5 months or so."
"Why her?" That pisses me off slightly.
"What do you mean 'why her'?"
"Well, I mean, she was lovely when I first dated her, but then I kinda found my true love on that holiday we went on 2 years ago. Remember Bali?"
"Oh, I remember it. And I guess you weren't the only one who found your true love on that holiday." I know I'm pushing it, but a small part of me - the jealous part of me - just can't help but act like a jerk to him.
"You cheated on her for 11 months, then proceeded to dump her by text," I spit at him.
"Yeah. I know that. C'mon, Josh, I thought we were friends."
"You treated me the exact same way; you were really friendly with me, then proceeded to pretend it never happened, only to invite me to some band night last December. So yeah, thanks a bunch, friend." I get up from the table, and he does the same. And then, in some crazy adrenaline fuelled moment, I lunge over the table, and shove him hard. He stumbles back. I then grab Y/N's backpack, then I walk to the doorway.
"Josh?" I hear her call. She rushes up to me, and her cheeks are stained with tears.
"Y/N, what happened?" I ask. She doesn't answer, then turns around and faces her ex and his 'true love', and gives them the finger. Then we walk away as she explains to me about what her ex's current girlfriend said about whether she was a boy or girl, then proceeded to boast about how kind and strong Y/N's ex is.
"Don't listen to her; she's trying to make you jealous. Wanna go to Taco Bell?"
"You betcha! But won't that make Tyler jealous?" She chuckles.
"Nah, it's fine; I don't mind making Tyler jealous by eating Taco Bell without him."
"It'll be payback for the time he didn't let me eat pizza," Y/N grin.
"Exactly!" We both laugh, holding each other's hands as we enter Taco Bell, destined to make Tyler jealous by spamming his phone with photos of our food.
